Maryland came through for me on . When I have time I try to analyze
all phases and angles to
each
game. With bowl season upon us, my add can't prevent me from doing so
because there is only one friggin game. I will leave out special teams
because I can't find any data. As always I will look at recent history
as opposed to the entire season with the understanding that I need to
analayze strenght of opponent as well.
Run/Pass Ratios
These are important because it shows a teams ability to control the clock or prevent the other team from controlling the clock
Tech 32% pass for 41% pass opponents
Cinic 50% pass for 54% pass opponents
total plays for and against
helps put the previous numbers in perspective. You obviously don't
have to pass if you have a major time of possession edge. Helps filter
out any self fulfilling numbers. Again these are the averages over the
last 3 games.
Tech 74 plays for 54 plays against
Cinci 68 plays for 57 plays against
turnovers
NEV 3 gives 3 takes
UMD 2 gives 2 takes
Conclusion
Here's what sticks out to me. Cincinatti is winning by a wide margin yet they've still had to pass more than the average team. If they've had to pass against that competition how will they run against Virginia Tech. How can you win if you're forced to be one dimensional.
The Play
I look for Virginia to play a physical game. They may play conservative boring football but they always come to play hard. Cincinatti is going to have to play 4 quarters against a team that is going to continue to run the ball no matter what. I don't like that matchup for Cincinatti.
