USC -3 early

Yes it is but Pete Carrol is the BEST big game coach Ive ever seen. This will be a 4th quarter game so if you like USC get it now at 3 before it goes up. Because once it gets to 4 or 4.5 I dont feel as comfortable.

USC's offensive and defensive lines are superior to Oregon's in talent, size, and production.  That's not an opinion, that's a fact.  I'm not saying USC will win, or even that Oregon is weak along their lines.

This thread is too opinionary.  Even statements like size and talent are opinionary because all I-A players are built pretty well, some are just natural born players :) and those are the ones that makes the difference in a game.  On to the facts about who has the edge in this game please.  Starting with Oregon's record before the preseason(Boise ST).  I say preseason because the first two games teams are still trying to build chemistry and learn the styles of play and coaching, by October you should have a better feel of what these teams are capable of.  Oregon's D and home field advantage should make this a Oregon -3 game, but given USC's history they are assumed to be the Pac-10 champs before the season even starts.  And that leads to over loss in Week 3(When the real season starts)  against Washington a 0-12 team last year.  Trojan defense has not performed up to expectations and now they finally face a good team at running the ball.  Oregon has the edge here.

That is opinionary, The Numbers and Statistics show the contrary.  In fact I hear they teach talent to players now a days.  Pete Carroll is a great coach, but he can be beaten, and that has already happened by one of his formers this year.

Going to sit back and enjoy this one.

Mikado, which "numbers and statistics" are you referring to?  USC's defense allows fewer rushing yards per game, fewer yards per carry, has more tackles for loss and more sacks.  Meanwhile, USC's offense averages more yards per carry (Oregon has a slight edge in rushing yards per game due to the number of carries) and has allowed fewer sacks and tackles for loss.

That's why I added that USC's lines are more productive than Oregon's ... because it's a fact. 

That being said, there is no way I'm putting this game on my card this week.  It's going to be close.  USC hasn't lost a game by more than a TD in 7 years, and this Oregon team won't be losing big in Autzen.

USC -3  LOCKING IT IN EARLY AND ALSO TAKING WEST VV ON FRIDAY

I have been watching Pete Carroll's SC football since he started.  And I have noticed a few things about his teams.  I am also a SC grad so take this any way you wish.

He likes to blow up non-conference teams in openers (SJSU, Arkansa, VTech), and when you are really excited about the team they tends to play down to competition (especially during PAC-10 play, and get bitten - Wash and Ore St). 

It seems like SC is this BIG but cuddly dog that wont bite off the heads of the little dogs as long as they pay their respects (ie. lay down and lose), but when another Big dog (or a pretender to the crown) comes (ie, Cal) SC blows them up.

I bet on SJST+35 cuz i forgot about that first rule, then bet against them at OhioSt (funny line movement) although I thought that SC - according to the 2nd observation should have blown them.  I thought OSU would be up after last years loss.  I then bet agaisnt them for Wash, Wazzu and Orest and but took SC against ND (i think i was robbed, but that's gambling).  Also, ND is like a PAC10 team to SC as they play every year.  I had SC as a Big play against Cal.

So, now I am thinking that its SC's time again to flex its muscle and blow up Oregon (they are ranked-so no overlooking them) and they want to move up  in the poles cuz you know, Bama or Flo will have one loss and if Texas trips up, its to the NC game.

Oregon got handled by UCLA in the first half and Utah gave them all they could handle.  and if Oregon gets behind, then they are done...

I'm on Oregon +3. Their offense is clicking right now to the same tune it was at the end of last season & their defnse is excellent. They could beat anyone in the country right now.

I love these two sentences.  You mention oregon has more yards due to more carries yet you fail to mention usc allows fewer rushing yards because their opponents average fewer rushing attempts.  Yet another one sided post to back up OPINION.  Unless they've played the exact same scheldule judging offense and defensive lines in this case will be OPINION so stop.   And if you think there is any kind of advantage for usc going to Autzen+halloween night game+a bit of weather your are wrong and that is a FACT.

Oregon gave up 44 for 170 at home to 3-5 Purdue ... what's your point?

Just look at pure yards per carry.  USC is better in both categories.  But, you can continue to cherrypick certain stats if you want.  I gave you tackles for loss, sacks, yards per carry, and total rushing yards on both sides of the ball.  Sagarin has Oregon's SOS at #10 and USC's SOS at #12, so schedule strength appears to be even.

Once again, I'm not saying that Oregon is going to get steamrolled.  Hell, Oregon should probably be favored in this game.  I'm just pointing out that USC is better along the lines.

You can have the best offensive line in football but if you have Fat Albert in the backfield running the ball your yards per attempt will not lead the league.  Unless you get oregon and usc to swap offensive and defensive lines and play the same scheldule you are arguing opinion and calling it fact and it's fucking annoying.

ducks roll here... usc looked awful against osu, gave up many points that they didnt need to against WSU and now they play a real team? on the road? USC bareeeeely beat Ohio state and ohio state is awful.

USC's coaches will review the couple of bad games Oregon had and find their weakness. USC's defense (run) is stellar but for my money I will lay off this one and just watch a good game. Good luck to all.
