Stanford -7.5 vs Cal.............I see a lot of people worrying about a letdown by Stanford after beating USC. I don't see it. Why? Because all the win vs USC did was keep alive their hope of going to the Rose Bowl...........a bowl they haven't seen since Ty Willingham 1st burst onto the scene. They still have a lot to play for because they own the tie breaker vs UO, even if they do have to worry about AZ. Couple that with the fact that this is "The Big Game" & I don't see how anyone could expect a let down. Cal is an enigma. It seems every other year they look ready to make the jump to top shelf status & then immediately shit the bed, never to be heard from again..........& it happened again. It doesn't help that Best is out for this one but Vereen looks as though he is an able replacement.........& Stanford has been vulnerable to giving up some big runs. But ultimately I think Riley is xfactor here. We had discussions here before the season started about whether anyone thought Riley could win a game for this team n& I don't think he has (one may argue the ASU game). OTOH, Stanford has rolled in their L3 games, beating 2 teams that crushed Cal. They are balanced & averaging an outstanding 37 mins. TOP over the L4 games. Cals D looks good on paper.......until you look what they did vs the top 3 offensive teams in the conf. If Tree limits Cal to 25 mins TOP they'll own em.

Have to go with Cal here. Stanford has been playing very well the past two weeks. But they lost to Wake Forest and were manhandled by Oregon State. If Cal stacks the line against the run, Stanford has to depend on their freshman QB Luck and a couple of decent but not great WRs for points. Their front 4 is pretty good but their LBs and DBs are not. Look for several long runs and passes by Cal to grab an early lead and hold their lead to the end of the game. Cal's D finally came alive against the potent Arizona offense and its hotshot QB Foles.

My book offers "games of the year odds" and prior to last weekend, they had Stanford listed as -1 for this game so I maxed it out on 2 accounts.
You and I clearly went to the same school of bankroll mangement.
Hahahaha did you find the same bet? Honestly I made the bet with the intent on hedging. I pretty much got the ML for -110 and now can get the Cal ML at close to +300. That was pretty much the game plan going in.

No; I've got to live or die with 7. I thought it would be more like 10.5, maybe 11. Cal has played its good game for the month. Let's just hope the Farm has something left in the tank.

GREAT THINKING.
I mean every coach doesn't see this but you do?!?!?!
Come on man teams try to stop the run the whole game but Stanford still does it.

I agree mugg and I too will be on Stanford. I'm not concerned about a let down because like you said...Stanford still has their work cut out for them if they want to sniff the Rose Bowl. I just think Stanford will be to physical for us and for CAL to pull the upset or stay close, your betting on Riley to play a hell of a game and without best. Give me Stanford here. BOL mugg

Oregon -5 @ AZ...............Ducks have been rolling on offense........in fact they haven't been outgained since week two. Even in the shoot-out loss to stanford they outgained them. The D has been quietly outstanding. In the L6 games they've given up an avg of only 21 ppg........including the 51 to Tree.......while the offense has put up about 42 ppg. AZ just doesn't have that kind of fire power. They got a boost since Foles came on but that was kind of the lightning-in-a-bottle effect. With some tape on the kid now, his #'s have steadily declined. Seems the only team to beat UO since week 1 had a mobile qb..........something Foles is not. Nobody has slowed this Duck O down since Sept. (other than the UCLA game that Masoli sat out). UO needs to win their L2 games to reach the Rose Bowl.........they're the only team in the P10 that controls their own destiny. With the game being played in Tucson I was thinking about an over play but 60 is a tall #........

Just a note................ESPN Game Day crew will be at the UO/AZ game..............AZ is going to wear their all red uni's & are urging fans to dress for a "red-out". Locals are debating showing up early (6am Tucson time) for the telecast & bloody marys, then going home to nap before the game.
I'm thinking of playing tOSU -30 @ wazzu............cougs are missing some players (injury, arrest) & they're teriible on top of that. Martin Stadium will look like one of the Thurs. nite MAC games......

MUGG is dead ass right about Stanford, they are just absolutely rolling right now. They punish teams with the run, just are relentless with it. No one in the conference has been able to stop it so far, and I'd be really, really surprised if Cal could stop them. If Cal gets down 14-0 early or something it could get really ugly real quick
