Reading up on these 2 teams and I just can't figure out why OM isn't favored here? OM is the most experienced team in the SEC coming into the year returning 19 starters (9O/10D). Vandy's strength will be their WR's but will have a new QB. Chemistry issue? Vandy returns 3 starters on the OL and should be ok at RB. But OM has essentially everyone coming back with the additions of their big recruiting class. Looking at the match ups in the trenches and both favor OM IMO. Wallace is nursing a shoulder injury but should be good to go. I know Vandy always gives OM fits, but I just can't see OM losing this game. OM blew it last year against Vandy allowing a TD with under a minute to go. Motivation should favor OM here. OM is a more experienced and deeper team.

I'm clearly a homer but I think the line is just about right. Given that the game is in Nashville, it's basically saying the teams are evenly matched. Vandy has dominated this series in recent years, winning 6 of the last 8. I don't think chemistry will be an issue given that it's not like Carta-Samuels is new to campus. This will be his third year on campus. He shouldn't have any problem being in rhythm with Matthews and Boyd. Also, Vandy added the number one juco TE in the country in Brandon Vandenburg. Vandy's defense should remain very strong with a lot of returning starters (most notably Andre Hal, Kenny Ladler, and Jared Morse). Vandy played terribly in the first half of last year's game and still found a way to win. I think this game will be close but the combination of home field (I know home field at Vandy isn't like other SEC schools but given the atmosphere last year against South Carolina, I think it'll be electric) and momentum (Vandy riding a 7 game winning streak) will given the Dores a victory. 27-21 Dores

Ole Miss D continues to be suspect. My Longhorns shelled them last year. And no, that was not a fluke. Steele has the power ratings at Vandy 134.17 and Ole Miss 134.93. I guess when you factor the home field and Nationally Televised game on Thur night of -3, you get the -2...Vandy played SC close to start the season last year. This game could go either way...

Just a great game....both teams will be well prepared and very well coached. Could come down to an Omiss gadget play(freeze has imaginative playbook). No value on either side imo

Doesn't vandy have a new transfer qb? Legitimate question... That said. I think ole miss offense will be hard for the vandy defense to contain. The ole mis d is a tad suspect but i think id back their defense over vandy's offense. They had their problems last year and with a new qb, I don't think that transition will be smooth this early in the year. Imo, vandy is heading down this year and ole miss is on the rise. Ole miss takes this one.

OM D will have almost everyone returning... The DLine will be very deep at DE and should be very very talented. OM will get in Vandy's backfield often and should create turnovers. This game will fall on Wallace. If he takes care of the football, then OM will win. But he has moments where he gets very reckless.
Position Advantages
QB - OM RB - VU WR - Slight adv. VU OL - OM DL - OM LB - Slight adv. VU DB - OM ST - VU

Looks to me like this one will be decided by the QB who makes the fewest errors in judgement and who best protects the football.
Helping Kama'aina to beat their " Local " since 1994.
