I don't think Florida will be there because of their defense and the fact that they are in the SEC. I think the winner of Ohio State USC will play West Virginia in the NC

I am amazed that West Virginia is not getting more hype. They are playing in a confrence where Uconn will be their toughest game. Also they field an offense featuring Noel Devine who is far better than Slaton will ever be. Now West Virginia does not have to worry about Slaton fumbling the ball each time he touches it. West Virginia will be in the National title game, put it in the book. Will be going to play them as a future to win the NC and possibly hedge later on, just waiting to get the best price.

WV is a team that lost to a bad Pitts team at home, and lost their coach who was a good one. Yeah they did beat OKL which still leaves me scratching my head. The Big east is going to be weak again although Louisville will be a good team, Rutgers and S Flor maybe.

They lost to Pitt mainly b/c they didnt have Pat White -- but either way losin to Pitt was unacceptable, esp. with a National Championship game bid on the line

They lost to Pitt because their "great" head coach was not prepared nor did he have his team prepared. West Virginia should be able to beat Pitt 100 out of 100 times even without Pat White. Their "great" coach leaving will not hinder their program rather improve it. This WV team will be more explosive and more importantly they will be better on the line of scrimiage.

WVU did have a chance to put away Pitts when White was in the game, from what I remember. WVU also benefited from a blown call to score or else the score wouldn't have been close.

Nostradamus, If I remember correctly, WVU benefitted from a bogus call by the refs which could have helped them, what I meant that it gave WVU a chance to win the game.

Nostradamus, if I rememebr correctly, Pitt was drivivng to score, and there was a bogus holding call called on them at about the 10 yard line. This would have made the game a 13 point spread with about 5 minutes left, and WVU was doing nothing on offense at the time, so how would they score 2 TD's?? This was clearly a terrible call and maybe a ref that had a different agenda, or just a bad, dumb ref, nevertheless WVU played like shit that game.

Ohio State, only team in the Big-11. Only team with enough talent to compete with OSU in the conference is Michigan. With a new coach. Michigan will struggle in 2008 trying to figure out the new offense and so the conference gets even weaker.
Take USC off the schedule, and OSU has a cupcake schedule.

Big-11 pretty much only OSU and Michigan have a good number.
One problem for OSU is that your OL gets so used to playing lesser competition I don't think they are ready for a real DL come bowl time. You don't need TEs and FBs to help protect the QB against lesser DLs in the Big-11. Then I watch you play the SEC in the MNC game, and you can't protect your QB. I keep waiting for a max protect package when your QB drops back, but your coach never adjusts and so we watch Troy Smith run for his life. Instead of making a good team like OSU tough, most fans outside the BIG-11 see your schedule making a good team soft and overconfident.
OSU is like owning the biggest house in a neighborhood. If you stay in that neighborhood, you look incredible. If you move the house to a better neighboorhood, it is just another house.

As far as ranked opponents go, it is the poll system that almost guarantees a at least a minimum number of teams from each conference gets ranked every year. No one in the ACC deserved to be ranked last year, but yet we had ACC teams ranked. The Big-11 will have 4-5 teams ranked, so a team like Purdue gets in the top 25 even though they don't belong.
