Nebraska's defense will likely smother UCLA and force t/os, and Bruin front lines will see it and will be wanting to quit playin by the 2nd qtr. Huskers or nothin.

USC may cover but it wont be easily. Trojans will get their points but I see the Orangemen also scoring quite a bit. USCs defense is not that good. If Syracuse defense can get off the field on third down in a few key spots this may be a tight one.

Could people just be overreacting to Nebraska's win over Southern Miss? Taylor Martinez looking like a QB for once? RB's running all over unconditioned D-Linemen? 1st year head coach for Southern Miss trying to find his teams identity in a new system?

This game is huge for UCLA and they will be ready to play. They are still totally focused on football because school hasn't even started yet. The UCLA coaches played it close to vest with the play calling. Expect them to open the playbook this Saturday. While the UCLA defense gave up some points in the first half, adjustments were made at half time and Rice was shut out in the second half. The Nebraske/Southern Miss game was very similar with the Golden Eagles keeping things interesting 21-17 with less than 2 minutes to go in the first half. UCLA is getting 5.5 right now. I'll wait for more points and also make a play on the money line.

I figure I'll chime in with the 2 cents I have left after getting my ass handed to me last week...
TILTOLOGIC made some good points. UCLA never comes close to selling out the Rose Bowl. Couple this with the thousands of NU fans making this their "away" trip of the year, I wouldn't expect much of an intimidating home-field atmosphere for UCLA.
Taylor Martinez has had some great road games (Washington - 2010, Oklahoma State 2010) and some awful road games (Wisconsin - 2011) the last few years. Being a 3rd year starter and returning to his home to play this game, I don't think there will be any nerves to worry about. I also don't think you can expect a similar passing game to the one he had last week, but anyone who has followed his career could definitely see noticeable improvements in his balance, poise and decision making. These improvements should serve him well all season.
A few other notes that have been mentioned by other posters: NU's skill positions are deep and talented. Not having Burkhead (RB) is a blow, but it shouldn't cost them much in terms of production. Their D is good but still looking for some leadership. They play a sound system and shouldn't give up the big plays like Rice did.
I think UCLA is an improved team, but given the experience Nebraska has, I don't think UCLA with a new coaching staff and freshman QB are going to have what it takes to pull the upset in a less than intimidating environment. I was able to get a large bet placed early in the week when Nebraska was -4.5 and am happy to see the line moving in my favor.
With all that said, fade me and you'll probably pay the bills. BOL to all.

This isn't the same UCLA team of past years. Mora has this team well diaplined. They got a good pre-season game vs Rice. Hundley finally gives UCLA a new look. Passes on the run well..
Nebraska will be tough test for UCLA. Won't bet on this one. This game will tell you which team is for real this year. UCLA 1st home game of year is sold out..Too early to tell if there for real or not..Rice was just a game to see what worked and what didn't..UCLA will be ready. But Nebraska alot tougher than Rice........

ok... UCLA should be favored... Why should a PAC 12 team coming off a 6-8 season.. with only 1 decent victory last year over an okay Arizona State team (29-28).. who return only 6 starters on offense & 8 on defense.. a defense that gave up 49 to Texas, 45 to Stanford.. 48 to Arizona, 50 to USC, 49 to Oregon.. etc.. who is starting a Freshmen QB (A talented one with potential.. but he is still a freshmen) who has the highest expectations and loads of pressure on his shoulders.. be favored against a quality Nebraska team with depth and some experience?
.. and i think they are gonna win... A year of two, lets call it two, from now UCLA may win this game. UCLA has major potential with their solid recruiting base.. BUT, they are a young bunch and will struggle this year.. They will make a bowl game.. but I expect a slightly than better .500 year. They won't win this game.
.. talk to me later... sounds good And hey, shit, I could easily be wrong, I just hope I'm not

not sure on the NU/UCLA game, however, showing how much credit the books are giving UCLA in this Nebraska game, makes me re-assure my more than likely favorite play of the weekend on Rice +10 @ Kansas. I see Rice having no problem keeping this game within a touchdown.

apeterson... i think where we differ is in our opinion of Nebraska... Nebraska is not a "quality" football team, as you put it... they are mediocre, and there area a shitload of football teams out there who can beat Nebraska... UCLA is one of 'em...
