Yes I'm a homer..BUT I follow State football closely & can say with confidence that Miss State has a good offense that will score 20+pts on Bama. Bamas passing offense is getting too much hype. State will stack the box and plan man up with our stud DBs Banks & Slay. Johnathan Banks prob will have a pick in this game too.
This will will be a lot tougher challenge for Bama than you peeps realize.
I watched the UT/MSU game again last night and Tennessee played very poorly in the 1st half. That was a FG game where UT only ran 20 1H plays. Bama's passing attack is pretty good but the play of the OT's in protection hasn't been great. I don't see that as a problem in this game. Why? I think this is the weakest front 7 that MSU has had in the last couple of years. You talk about all the things that Bama has yet to see this year but MSU hasn't faced anyone that is as balanced as Bama on offense. The OL has looked great the last couple of games and the Lacy/Yeldon 1-2 combo at RB is strong.
Also consider that Bama plays a lot of 3 WR looks and that will force State to either bring in the extra DB or cover the slot with a safety or LB. Either way Bama has created a mismatch. Bama has had great success runninig out of the 3 WR look but also do a great job of throwing underneath to the slot in this look.
People in TTown are fired up for the game because the home schedule has been garbage this year. Mullen has been pretty conservative against Saban in the past as well and he can't afford to do that in this game. MSU has been solid this year but the toughest stretch of the season is coming up and we will see just how much they have improved.

Jimmy, I rarely bet against Bama, but I got Miss St at +26 with my local book, he usually skews the Bama/Auby lines has he is in Bham...I think the score will be 31-10/34-10.....anyway, BOL and rolltide.
What do you think about the Ole Miss/Arky game? I really think Im going to ride these teams the rest of the year, but I cant pick a side in this one. I think Arkansas is going to be tough the second half of the season and I think Ole Miss is going to get better every week with Freeze as HC.

Mississippi @ Arkansas is an interesting game. Two things stick out immediately about this game to me. The first is we have a huge coaching mismatch in favor of Mississippi. The second is that Arkansas' defense got absolutely raped by a similar offense a month ago. The thing is that Arkansas has played significantly better on both sides of the ball since then. I guess what I'm saying is that I'm having a hard time getting a read on this Arkansas team. Are they starting to mature into the team everyone thought they would be prior to the season??? And what about their defense??? They seemed to have awaken form their early season slumber.
I realize Kentucky isn't very good, but they did play South Carolina very tough for the first half (had a 10-point lead at the half), and Georgia last week. They really didn't play poorly against Mississippi State either. Yet Arkansas completely dominated them in a 3 quarter game. Kentucky surrender a season high 49 points (in just 3 quarters of play), and were completely shutdown on offense 4 of 15 passing for 104 yards passing, and 66 yards rushing on 25 attempts. That's a pretty impressive defensive performance, even against Kentucky.
In short, I really don't have a great feel for this game, because I don't feel I have a good read on Arkansas right now. If I had to guess I would say Mississippi can and will be able to score with the Razorbacks and make this a close game, but can they keep it 6 points close??? If I had to bet this game I think I would take my chances with the points or go UNDER 32 for the 1st half.

under is my play gonna get it in today at lunch at my local book... as far as a side... i very easily see bama beating them bad!! 28-3 so if you took ms state +26 you would win.. but as a bama fan i cant bet state at all because cheering for bama not to win 40-0 is something i wont do... i ultimately hope bama beats the state really really bad!!! but like i said above 28-3 is my guess!!!

Jimmy...great write up. I would be careful about putting too much stock in MSU's past years performance. While I realize State has played sub-par competition to date, years past teams would have lost to Auburn and Tenn and potentially could have slipped up on the road at Troy. Now you can only play and beat the teams you have played today and I know State's schedule doesn't really start until this weekend, but for the first time since the Jackie Sherril era MSU is actually winning the games they are supposed and winning them pretty easily, which is much different from past teams.
Someone mentioned the mind set of the MSU team above. I can tell you there is a big chip on all the players shoulders for this game. They have been told all week about the 24 point line and don't think that is not in the back of their mind. Personally I think this game will be decided by 10 or less points. MSU has recruited very well over the past few years (not like Bama of course) and everything seems to be building up to this moment for the program. Should be a great game and I'm going to post this morning that MSU +24.5 will be my largest bet of the year.

I don't disagree with anything you said. I think the biggest difference between this season's Mississippi State team and previous teams is that they are very balanced on offense. Their passing game is finally starting to catch up to their running game.
I am also well aware of the mindset of the Mississippi players coming into this game, and as I said in my write-up, I initially liked the points in this game, and still lean in that direction. But the mindset on the Alabama side (which admittedly has surprised me a little) is that this is "statement" time (a scary thought). I can tell you for certain the Alabama players are taking this game very seriously, and are intent on making a statement. The question is can they??? I'm not sure they can. If I were, I'd be betting on them.
As impressed as I am with Mississippi's State's offensive balance, I still think this will be the biggest mismatch of the game. Saban and Kirby Smart know how to stop this offense, and I think they'll do just that.
I also think Mississippi State's defense will have some success slowing down Alabama's offense. Defending Alabama's offense is a pick your poison type of a deal, and the poison Mississippi State will choose is to crowd the LOS to stop the run, and rely on Banks and Slay to match-up with Alabama's receivers on the outside. I can't blame them because I think this is the best strategy, but I don't think it'll be entirely successful. I think Alabama will still score in the 27-35 point range, and that should be enough to take the margin of victory dangerously close to the point spread.
