People just hate Clausen and can get passed that. I think personally he will go number 1 overall. Hopefully he will be better for the combine, because he will show everyone why he is by far the best QB coming out this season.
#1 overall????? Are you kidding?
I know you are an Irish homer but seriously any team that passes on Suh, McCoy, & Berry are on crack! Suh & Berry will be perennial Pro Bowlers.
IMO Jimmy will be an average QB at best in the NFL.

* Irish had a piss poor offensive line....(check my earlier post for numbers) * to go to a lesser tier bowl would be a LOSING proposition (cash) wise....that's right many actually LOSE $$$ * to me a bowl seemed like a good idea mainly for extra practice time...with coaching situation what it was ...perhaps better after all to "cut our losses"...> focus on recruiting....rather than beat up a crap team in the weedeater bowl....>> plus you RISK the chance that players don't get up for game > AND LOSE > devastating * funny how if you love / hate a team your brain just ceases to function somehow.....> you hate the irish .....still should be able to see that Clausen can play
Yes, I do hate the arrogant Irish. But...I disagree about the bowl. First off, you forget about TV revenue. Ratings are usually high for the Irish. If you followed football, you would know the Irish typically have a large following, like Iowa or Nebraska. Also, the Irish would have destroyed another team with a similar record, esp with Floyd back, which most importantly, would have made me

yet another well thought out......informative.... objective post.....
* irish have lost 9 of last 10 bowl games they have played......can lose to most anyone....as they have proven many times during the reign of fat charlie *er.....players voted NOT to play * stars either hobbled ....or more anxious to protect themselves for draft.....than to play C Mich in GMAC Bowl.....or go to Detroit and play Ohio..... * could be argued that CM had a better team...Ohio no... but would have played their ass off vs a VERY disinterested irish team
* revenue for irish is >> 1.3 mil guaranteed (BCS)......+ 750,000 (from those 2 likely bowls).....irish spend between 2-2.5 mil to go to a bowl.....(last Sugar Bowl only netted 1.6 mil)...>>> so clearly a break even or most likely losing proposition * TV money for bowl games does not go directly to schools........
* irish bring the HIGHEST TV ratings of any school * irish remember have a history of not playing in bowls anyway........skipped entirely from 1925 -1970 or so...was only amended to play a team ranked higher ....to improve ranking
It is better to be feared - than to be loved.

Good come back! Must have stayed up all night thinking of that one. LMAO. Clausen is a box, He will not make it in the pros. No charcter. You can wish all you want....BOl

seems pretty similar to Quinn (69-14 TD-INT last couple yrs at ND...for those who like stats) except probably not as good nor likely to be much of a leader - Clausen may be lucky to be as good as Quinn (52% career, 10-9 TD-INT)...average at best...and might not even achieve that

difference between guaranteed money for 1st vs 2nd round (avg 12m vs 2m a year) just cost Clausen a boatload
then again if he gets to go to a better team maybe it's worth it...ok probably not although chance to learn behind Favre (Minn #34), Brady (#47) or Manning (#63) would be good
or a few pointers from Jamarcus Russell (Oak #39)

Lol whodey I've seen you on here a lot and you do make a positive contribution, and having said that I hate to stick it to you. But do you think maybe now your hometown bias is apparent? Telling that guy he doesn't know sports because he said Clausen would be around for Day 2. I'm not gonna tell you you don't know sports, but a little bit more objectivity would be cool. Best of luck in all your gambling endeavors.

I never understood the love for Clausen. I swear, at one point, listening to the jerk-offs on ESPN, you'd think Clausen was worthy of a first pick. That's quite a head scratcher. Bradford, injury or not, was CLEARLY the best NFL QB prospect in the draft, and apparently, some people that actually get paid to draft these guys agreed.
Will Bradford get protection? We'll see. Dude won't be any Broady Joe or Joe Montanta, but I swear he looks like a combo of both...

Clausen is much more accurate than Quinn and makes better decisions, Quinn is terrible and never was that good in college, Clausen is going to be a solid pro unlike the rest of his family, I think he will have a decent career which is much more than I can say for Quinn, Jimmy is in a good spot in Carolina and should be the starter by the 2011 season

carolina looks like ideal place to go with some players around him, like we were saying sometimes a drop is good...other than the huge money difference...point about Quinn was he had similar great stats and (until he failed) was generally thought was going to be a good pro and had similar 1st-2nd situation, at least Clausen can't be much worse

Do any of you guys think that this doucher of a QB will be any good in the pros?? He didn't impress me at all in college and everyone still has a hard on for him, I just don't see why....
I would rather take a chance on him then Colt McCoy who quit on his team when they needed him most...

Kiper had him rated higher than Bradford. I'm no expert but, c'mon.
Claussen will have some success at Carolina, kind of like Romo has had some success at Dallas, or Hasselback has at Seattle, but he's not IMHO a franchise or Hall of Fame QB.
