they had no say in the matter. bowls pick what they pick. i assume the sugar had the first pick and took the traditional SEC team (UF)..then got the last pick and got stuck with Louisville
SEC plays Big12 in the cotton bowl, so, there's that
and Big12 and Pac12 have numerous matchups. it always seems to be that way. same with SEC and Big10. it just so happens that the Big10 stinks this year so it really favors the SEC. meh

I'll readily admit that the SEC is the best conference but, this continues to smell as if they want to ensure there is no chance for a bowl loss by one of their major tams. I mean really, it would put to bed all these conversations if they just gave the fans the games they want to see, like Oregon vs SEC and K. St vs SEC.
It resembles two years ago when the BCS matched up Boise and TCU. They had already played during that season - what did that possibly serve other than ensuring an SEC team was not upset?
This is the same thing. Maybe Oregon would get crushed by Florida's defense and maybe LSU would kill K. St but, it honestly seems like the SEC is scared to find out. What other possible explanation is there? These other top conference teams are dying to prove themselves so I find it hard to believe that it is Oregon saying "oh, please give me a Big 12 team and not an SEC team" I mean, Christ, they lost by TWO whole points to the greatest college player we have seen in at least a dozen years. He was so good, that the program he left won 2 games this year. And that was an SEC program.
Again, I readily admit, the SEC is the best but, there is not that much of a gap and it seems like the SEC is trying pretty hard to ensure that never gets proven. They will clean sweep the Big 10 again and LSU and Florida will kill Clemson and Louisville but, what does that prove? Nothing we didn't already know. None of those teams are elite or have elite talent. When will the SEC teams face the true elite teams from other conferences? Maybe they just wait till all the threats are gone - Kellen Moore, Chip Kelly, Klein, etc.
Really, as a fan of football, it is just disappointing. Feels like Boise - TCU all over again.
CFB is stuck in this paradigm. At least in CBB we canget a Princeton vs Georgetown or Butler vs Duke (and 100s of other games where the smaller programs do win not just get close)
Well, they gave us No Illinois vs FSU they'll say. Enjoy it "fans." ESPN talking heads will play that one up. Yeah. Another chance for a team from another conference to embarrass themselves. Not us. We're safe. We already had Utah and Boise St beat us. Time to hide a few seasons and disuise the perception of parity. F*CK the "fans." Parity doesn't sell, and doesn't get recruits to sign on. This is a BU$INE$$.
"THIS IS THE SEC and ESPN controlling your athletic viewing pleasure, and signing off until bowl season. Buh-bye. "

Tradiotonal Bowl matchup is B10 team going south where the weather is nice. It is somewhat rare for a west coast team to play a bowl game in the South,

"but this angle plays out perfectly for the SEC to have a winning record up to the NC."
If the SEC is good enough to win the big one then what's that saying about why they are there?
Forget Oregon ! Forget them. As soon as they get in a football game that isn't downhill skiing they fold. They can't comprehend with see-sawing battles and tough teams they may have to from behind on to win.
Won v. Miss. St., 36-13, in 2002.

Florida does not travel. They play their 3 or 4 games on the road in the SEC, in the cozy Southeastern region of the US or in the state of Florida. Florida has not played a non-conference road game out of the state of Florida since…. 1991!

Do you know the difference between ROAD game and a game at a NEUTRAL SITE?
I wish Florida and Oregon would have gotten a shot to play this year. With that said. I think Florida got screwed this year. Royally!
Alabama won the SEC without playing them. SEC needs to step up with the big boys and schedule 9 conference games.
With that said I still believe the SEC is the strongest conference this year and most years recently.

tex am ,ga,south carolina, fsu,LSU. guess your keyboard ran out of keys.
my bad on the neutral site. that made phoenix,az right down the road from Gainesville.
you're right about non-conference too, playing in tuscaloosa, baton rouge, college station and columbia,sc is a lot easier than say washington, san jose st,colorado and some of those hell holes.

Does the SEC have the best coaching in the land? Yes!
Does the SEC have the best public relations in the land? Yes!
They will continue to have a headlock on getting to play in the BCS(not title) game as long as they lead the land in FCS opponents played, end of the year match ups against the ACC and ONLY 8 conference games.

SEC is by far the dominant conference with the most talented athletes top to bottom. Florida who doesn't play in their title game, loses to Georgia, is the BCS pick? Worse, teams like ND, K State and Oregon didn't have to put it on the field an additional game like Georgia did. K State would be underdogs in Vegas to Alabama, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, A&M, LSU. Not taking anything away from what K State has done, just wouldn't be 11-1 in the SEC. Why bother with conference title games? No reward. Oregaon and K State may not have survived a title game. BCS=BS. Not sour on Nebraska's loss. We didn't deserve to be in a BCS game. Unfortunately, we just messed it up by keeping N ILL at 16th.

Former SEC commissioner Roy Kramer is considered to be the "father" of the BCS (1998).
Any BCS "founding father" is going to make damn sure when he leaves his legacy and political directions will remain. All the tools are there.
All of these games are meant to keep major SEC teams high in the PRE SEASON rankings (AP especially) because these rankings (even though they are popularity contests and based on perceptions) are used in the BCS rankings and are partof the formula for making BCS games at season's end.
This is the angle people that you are neglecting. Who is benefitting? How are they beneffitting?
Explain to me how one loss by Alabama at home in regulation drops Bama to no worse than 4th. Yet Oregon loses to Stanford at home in OT by a FG and they are cooked--out of any chance whatsoever because FLORIDA SQUEEKED BY LAFAYETTE --THEY WERE DOWN TWO SCORES T GOT TWO BREAKS LATE AND WIN ON A PUNT RETURN BECAUSE THEY WERE HOLDING ALL OVER THE PLACE AND IT WASN'T CALLED.
And Florida moves UP AFTER THAT GAME AND PASSES OREGON. WHY? Because a win is a win, and the BCS system rewards a win and calculates the wins of all the oppnents records as wins and losses. So that's another reason they schedule cupcakes like Lafayette. And the coaches conspire to keep Oregon out. They were setting up another SEC vs SEC title game should ND lose to USC. A 1 loss Oregon is worth less than a 1 loss Florida. The title game would have been Florida vs Alabama. As if the snooze fest (oh I mean "defensive battle of the decade") between lsu and bama was worthwhile.
Again, the criticism doesn't matter. We are just "outsiders" and "anti-SEC". No, that's untrue. Not at all. I like Alabama and almost attended it myself.
We are asking for the powers that be to release its stranglehold on power, and think of the fans first--the national picture, and resist the dollars and the monoply game attutude in BCS board meetings that are ruining the Bowl Games every year.
Rematch of TCU and Boise St was stoopid. And it left the SEC unscathed. They don't care if they beat each other. They come out on top regardless.
So Car, Georgia, LSU, even Vandy was rewarded with sweet cupcakes, and the possibilities of high pre-season rankings to once again be in the debate about "which SEC team will win it all this year?"

I agree that the bowl match-ups are particularly bad this season, and I would love to see Oregon, Stanford & K-State play SEC teams, but the SEC has no control over it whatsoever. If they did all 6 of their top 10 teams would be playing in BCS bowls, which is the way it probably should be.

Oregon/Alabama is the match-up I was rooting for all season, and I think it's the match-up most of nation would have preferred to see.
I think if you switch coaches and put Saban on the Oregon sideline, and Kelley on the Bama sidelines, I think you'd see Bama play a little self-conscious, too tight; while Oregon would play like they deserved the damn trophy come hell or high water. I think the offense is great, but don't do no good when your personality rubs off on all the players, and if you're quirky like kelly is at times, then that's what happens. On the upside, it can make for different playmaking, maybe extra credit for creativity. hard to get away with that with a defensive line that is a year or two out from the NFL. Oregon will either blow a team out, or play very tight. Saban is a big game master.
Remains to be seen if ND's Kelley is up to the task (which is as a game manager and having them ready).

Why would you want Florida to make Oregon look like poop and score 10 points? They couldn't score on Stanford... you think they stood a change against the Gator D? Ha!
Kansas St. would get beaten by any of the top 10 SEC teams very badly. They put up 24 on the worst defense in the NCAA (literally) and squeaked by at Oklahoma and Iowa St. who defensively aren't on the same planet as the aforementioned teams.
Stanford would be the only decent match, as they have the only decent defense from those teams.

I think Kelly is an excellent coach. His problem is he just doesn't have the horses to match-up with Alabama anywhere on the field, especially depth. Alabama is way too deep for Notre Dame and will ultimately impose their will.

SEC hates on the big 12 D and brags about how good the SEC D is. Is it the defense or the offense? A&M held bama, LSU, and Florida all to under 25 points yet La Tech put up 57 on them.
