FRIDAY - West Virginia @ South Florida

I remember Slaton and White were banged up going into that loss vs. USF last year. A week later they tore up Rutgers' defense for 41pts in a win. So the key will be experience in big games. Slaton and White have been here before and know what it will take to win. They are healthy and it looks like White's accuracy in the passing game is beginning to materialize.

USF is having a great year thus far w/ a huge win vs. Auburn in OT. They were loose and had nothing to lose in that game. But in watching that game I remember a dumb ass kicker that missed 5 to 6 FG attempts that Auburn did not capitalize on. WVU's offense would have scored at least 4 times after those misses. Now they have the pressure of proving that they should be ranked on a national stage this Friday vs a team that is licking its chops over last yrs loss. WVU is the play.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure half the teams in the nation could do so against Marshall, ECU, Western Michigan, and Maryland.

Don't let that shitty schedule fool you. Sure, Slaton, White, and Devine are great at what they do and are explosive, but USF is a real team, with a real defense, real coaching, and an efficient offense @ home. If USF doesn't turn the ball over and hand the game to WVU, they will win straight up.

Don't like South Florida in this one. Their defense is good but that really doesn't matter. West Virgina has to much experience on offense to be shut down by any defense. They also destroyed the last team that "slowed them down last year in East Carolina. As they showed in the Marshall game, they will get on track, it's just a matter of time and South Florida doesn't have the horses on offense to win a shootout. 28-14 WVA

South Florida has a tough defense? How do you know, they have played:

Elon 28-13

Auburn 26-23

North Carolina 37-10

That schedule has turned out to be terrible, they haven't played a decent team yet.

I heard these same arguments the week of the Maryland game.

You are right. I actually meant to put WVU. My mistake. By the way, if a kicker has one horrible game, I guess that makes his worthless.I mean, nobody is allowed to have a bad game. Correct me if I am wrong but I think he made all his fg's last week. I do stand corrected with regards to USF special teams. As far as coaching, do some research buddy.

I'll add one thing books have this number set where it should get even actions where's most tout will think the right play is s. florida and the public will think it's wv is the play. let me break this game down for you in behalf of a big UWV backer for years now. I'm not a fan but wv has had weaks schedule in the past and just trounce on those mid major teams thats all. WV will face it's stiffest competion of the season as for s. florida their creditbility isn't all that betting auburn although Levitt will have this team fired up and this defense is fast and they fly to the ball.

USF will win outright if they can play smart on defense not overplaying UWV offense cause they use alot of misdirection plays. One thing USF will see different in this meeting compares to last season is Pat White. Yeah i know they've already faced White last season but to me this is a different Pat White of years past. This kid has improved in the passing game his throws are alot more accurate then last seasons and to add the receiving corp are alot better in catching as well. If anyone remember last season game receivers drop alot of passes in the last meeting. USF has looked good against a 1-AA squad which really to me they didn't look that good but that was the first game. Auburn will this team lost at home to Miss St and they sqeaked that one out. NC all i can say young team and they got rattled early but on the high note NC was able to move the ball. Keys to victory is the play of two outstanding shutdown CB. They need to be able to hold speedy wideouts man to man.

WV will win if they can stretch the field early making USF play honest. Grothe killed WV defense last season with his leg and his arm. WV defense has not looked good until last week against the East Carolina and they looked decent against Maryland. which is the only two teams that i thought would give WV as far as games played i was wrong. Key to success for WV is to take the crowd out early by scoring quick and getting some stops. Do that and WV i believe should take this game by 17 points. Key to victory White and Reynaud if these two gets it done early it'll be along night for USF cause not only they have schmit, devine, and slaton to stop they have the passing threat to worry about cause trust me USF will load the box leaving alot of man to man coverage on the outside.

The team that can get the early confident and score and stop will take this game. To me there's no right or wrong side to be on. I say cap this game without the points. WV wins they'll take it by 10-17 if south Florida wins they'll win this by 7-14 points.

Auburn game went overtime that's why it looks like South Florida's defense allowed so much points. West Virginia allowed 23 points by Marshall and 24 by Central Michigan. Check out last years game when South Florida played North Carolina. Check out last years game against West Virginia. Both games were road games for South Florida and were SU wins as DOGS as well.

Hey dallasguy,

Do you live in Dallas? What part?

Anyways I'm tempted to take USF but I think WVU underestimated them last year and get caught looking ahead. Rich Rodriguez will have his guys ready this year. That's not to say they will destroy USF, but if USF wants to win this game they will have to come from behind. I think WVU scores early and puts USF on their heels before they settled down.

Schedule won't say much about USF defense but they are really good and fast they have two conderbacks that i know you'll see in the next level. USF defense is underrated. Either way i still like WV they won't look past USF this season and they'll get the W and win the Big east this season.

Agree with the pick. White and Slaten are good atheletes, but WV's offense is too predictable. Run, run, run... In my opinion, White is going to have to throw the ball often in this game for WV to win, but that is not their identity as a team.

USF's defensive players should be able to sustain their energy throughout the game with the huge home crowd cheering them on, and win this game SU.

Speed's kill. I see WVA winning. Time management. Keep USF offence off the fields. Wear down USF defence and win in the fourth quarter.

AUB offence is not close to WVA.

AUB score 23 points on USF.

WVA on primetime.

WVA on Friday night minus a TD.

I think USF will employ a similar game plan that Marshall used against WV in the first half. They contained Slaten and tried to make White beat them with his arm. On offense, Marshall was able to throw the ball effectively against WV.

Marshall just didn't have the atheletes to compete with WV.

WVU doesn't only have to step up on D but they have to score 7 points more than USF.
