placin or anyone else who might know this... i'm looking at that last sentence of your thread, because i think that is an important point...
i BELIEVE that it has been a long long time (couple years at least) since Hawaii was a significant home underdog... but despite what it says in that write-up, i believe that when Hawaii is a home dog it is usually because they are playing a team that is way out of their league, and the scoreboard usually reflects this...
does anyone know offhand how Hawaii had done in recent years (maybe last 10) when they are a home underdog? this would be good info...
Hawaii is 19-10 ATS as a home dog since 1999...haven't been a home dog since 2005 when they went 1-3 ATS. Those 3 losses in '05 came agaisnt #1 USC +36 (63-17), #22 Fresno St. +13 (27-13) and #24 Wisconsin +7 (41-24). They missed the cover by 10 points in two of those and by 1 point in the other.

I think many still have visions of the Chang/Brennan-led Hawaii teams.............this present team is far from that. I'm siding with HG..............Cinci covers comfortably.

I called Wazzou to cover the 28.5 because Hawaii has never layed that much points on a Pac-10 team or any BCS conference team. Wazzou had been playing better of late and Hawaii had key players out with injury starting RB/SB Kealoha Pilares, and ALL Everything RYAN Mouton. Mixed that in with Heavy rains and Missed FG's makes the 24-10 victory look deceiving.
Hawaii was up 14-0 quickly but sizzled off due to miscues/personal foul penalties/turnovers. Even with these problems the game was never in jeopardy.
I am an islander and picked wazzou to cover against Hawaii.
I think Hawaii's got this one.

cincy usually plays at 1130 est ...no problem there.....
cincy doesnt want to go into a bcs game off a loss.....
the rainbows managed only 24 vs wash st ....top 5 worst teams in cfb....
WHY ON EARTH would you guys try to argue with Hawaii guy....dude is money with Hawaii picks....
gl HG , Im with ya brother
I'm with that Train. This isn't the pros no college team travels to Hawaii at the beginning of a month long bowl prep ahead and starts it by resting the straters for 3 quarters. That better be in writing before I believe that. Hawaiiguy's got it right that Hawaii has played no one recently. I was stupid enough to play them against Wash St. who is absolutely horrible and while the beat them like 24-10 they looked pathetic.
Other than the travel this is a great spot for Cincy to get there D rollin and their offense healthy against an inept Hawaii bunch.....then just sit back for a few days and catch some cool waves and a tasty buzz. Also I think nostrodamus and DoubleUp predicted this line to come out at 14ish. Cincy all day!!!!!

CaptainHawaiian those dudes Kealoha and Mouton are nothing man. Seriously if they went to any Big 10, Big 12, Sec, Or Acc school they start on MAYBE 20 percent of those teams. I know ur from Hawaii. Look when they play ranked teams the past two years. Nothing but a disgrace Hawaii and ur fans. Ur guys are sad....seriously! Hawaii nothing but an average team

Be careful on this line.. At first glance I loved it too, but I have always stayed away from teams that really have nothing to play for or everything locked up (LIKE CINCY).. These kids will be more worried about Hawaiian Hoes and Beer than beating a lack-luster Hawaii team.. Tuff play and dont think it is a blowout like people think. BOL

Hawaii is also 14-5 ATS as a home dog since 1980 when they are above .500 for the season..

thanks for the stats NYDude... will have to process this... at first glance it suggests we should stay away from Cincy... but maybe it needs a deeper look...

Great points on Hawaii. UH has been a tough home dog in past years. They usually get up for rank teams & it being Senior Night! Even more pride & heart from Hawaii. I've got season tickets & make it to the games rain or shine (WSU weather was constant rain). Hawaii played aweful against WSU w/ the Hawaii Bowl on the line. I have a hard time thinking Hawaii's O will dominant Cinn. I think the 7 or 8 pts is quite low. If Cinn D shows up Hawaii will have a difficult time scoring. (Hawaii's O is not that great), O Line is scary - giving up sacks in bunches <some of them are b/c QB holds on too long & no one is open.> Being a UH homer & played them against WSU - its hard to see this team turning it up a few notches after the showing against Idaho & WSU. I will be laying the 7 & sit back and see CINN methodically pound Hawaii. Then Hawaii press and make errors. (last meeting is of no significance too long ago)

I rarely go against Hawaii guy on his picks. It is just down right stupidity. A lot of the variables bing discussed as to why they may not cover are somewhat odd. Many of you have said, they will sit guys, they do not care if they win, they may go party. Come on! This is absurd.
The bottom line is Cincy is a way better squad then Hawaii. The program is trying to build up and they want more wins which will help in recruiting. Als, why the hell would they sit guys with a month off and have their momentum crushed with a loss. That will do more damage. They want the win.
Hawaii minus the points.
With you Hawaii Guy

I am a big time hawaii fan, but I am also aware that we do not have the money or resources to compete regularly against BCS conference teams. But we will sure try and give it our all.
We have beaten Cincy before and it is not out of reach to do again.
RB/SB Pilares
DB Ryan Mouton
These two players means a lot to the UH football team for there versatility and their playmaking abilities. You can say "They are not this and they are not that, or they are not as good as BCS conference players" I beg to differ. Hawaii didnt look very good against a terrible wazzou team, but the game was never in doubt. Say what you want but I will call this game not as a HOMER play, but as a rookie capper.
Hawaii has a great chance of winning this game, if they don't they will definitely cover the 8
again I say
Hawaii +8

capt hawaiian after thinking about it, i have a change of heart and gotta go with the bearcats. i hate betting against hawaii taking points but i do feel a blow out here. there is history between these teams, they dont like eachother but this years bearcats team is far more superior than hawaii. i do believe that they will come to hawaii focused on killing us. i also feel hawaii should not be in a bowl game this year. we really aint that good. sorry to all the hawaii fans thats gonna bash me for saying it. but remember i am a hawaii fan but im far more of a fan of money. so my money is on the bearcats and if hawaii wins i will still be happy either way
