Butch Jones said last week the Bearcats will look to establish a running game when given the opportunity. The rushing tandem of Darrin Williams and John Goebel helped UC compile 263 yards on the ground last week. The Bearcats’ feature back Isaiah Pead is expected to return after missing last week’s game with swelling in his knee. The Bearcats’ pass offense under first-year starting QB Zach Collaros compiled just 130 yards, fewest since 2006. Collaros will need to elevate his play against an ACC opponent on the road.
North Carolina State's defense is ahead of the offense so far in 2010, in part because the lack of an established running game and in part because the passing game still looks unpolished. The Wolfpack have plenty of weapons among the wideouts, however, and may look for a big play early by sending Owen Spencer or T.J. Graham deep.
