Picked 60% winners for the year but really had a poor November. Looking to bounce back here in bowl season. I am looking to play many games this year and will mainly play games based on these factors: motivation, coaching, location, how teams finished the season, and defense. You can throw stats out the window at this time of the year as thats usually a really good way to lose a ton of money on bowls. I like playing teams with defenses and adequate offenses vs teams with high scoring offenses and no defense (see: Houston, Ok State, most of the Big 12 etc.). I also always look to fade the MAC which is an awful conference historically in the bowls.
Wyoming +7 (3 units) I love Wyoming as a dog in this spot. Wyoming has won outright as double digit dogs in bowls in 04 and 09 and they have the motivation here. They are 5-2 this year vs the spread as dogs with 3 outright wins. I like the frosh QB Brett Smith and I love the fact that Wyoming is playing closer to home while Temple has to go all the way across the country to play in the worst bowl game out of all the MAC bowls. Wyoming ended the year winning 5 of 7 and should be pumped to be back in a bowl. Temple underachieved this year after a great showing vs Penn St early in the year. They won't be focused here.
Utah State -1.5 (3 units) I like having the best player on the field here in QB Robert Turbin and the motivational factor once again with Ohio coming off a heartbreaking loss in the Mac Title Game. They were up 20-0 and blew the game. I expect a hangover here in a cross country trip while Utah St has short travel to Boise.
. This team has no speed at all and they are so small. Temple is so much more physical at the POA and they have NFL players in DE Robinson and RB Pierce. I should have known better after seeing this team manhandle Maryland and play with Penn St for 60 mins. I knew their defense was good at 3rd in the country at ppg but I played the motivational factor and got burned.
