Week 3: Winners(29-14), ATS(27-12-2), BoldPredictions(2-2-1 +.2u )
Season: (84-34), (69-51-4),(11-4-1 +8.6u)
 
Don't have a lot of time tonight so writeups only for my early plays - will get the rest in tomorrow.
Miss. St. 17(+7.5) 2u, Ga Tech 14
Jackets are solid this year but laying way too many in what should be a defensive battle. Bulldogs have struggled so far but their defense is legit, and I think these teams are fairly even, but MSU has more experience. I think they find enough on O off turnovers to get it done SU, but even if not getting over a touchdown here is a gift.
Tulsa 41(-10), New Mexico 17
Tulsa is the much better team and this line would be minimum a td more if not for last week. I'm big on playing teams against teams early that have a huge drop or boost off one game, as the next couple will show, and Arizona was bound to let one get away against an overmatched opponent. Hurricane take advantage and roll.
Iowa St. 21(+3) 2u, UNLV 14
I like to look at Games of the Year as the season goes along and see where the lines are and what they get to when the game actually arrives. Going into yesterday this game was ISU-6.5 (why it was a GOY I don't pretend to understand). ISU played more or less to its spread so UNLV's win at Az. St. credits them almost 10 points. This is way too many. Cyclones are the better team, UNLV caught up with a team who has been letting people hang around for two years. They win this one outright.
Pitt 28(-1)2u, Iowa 21
I hate betting on Wanny but the Panthers are still the better team at home, in a virtual pick 'em. Iowa really hasn't been terrific this year, and with the quarterback controversy I think they get their first loss of the year here.

Kansas St. 27, Louisville 24
I'm admittedly waffling on this game, as I think the Ville is better than they showed against ky and Ksu could be in for it once big 12 play rolls around. Still, I think the Wildcats get this one done - Louisville's offense looked absolutely terrible game 1 and KSt has been decent defensively.
WVU 28, Colo 21
Should be a very good game, I expect the Buffs to go out and try and smack the Neer's in the mouth. Still, WVU has more talent and overall speed and I think eventually they run over a team that's still a year or two away from competing for the Big 12 N.
Uconn 21, Baylor 17
Uconn was impressive last week, but I think Baylor is much closer to temple in terms of talent level that UVA. I don't want to speculate what that says for the Cavs. In any case, Griffin is the real deal at qb and CT's offense is far from explosive. I think they control the game and win, but they don't have the talent it on a team that wants to compete with them. May take the points.
N'Western 31, Ohio 14
3 competitive losses for the bobcats against a very good, solid, and very bad team (No OSU is not the very bad one). They've shown fight and resolve but I'm not sure how many more tight ones they have left in them. Solich is a good coach but its got to be tough to get a team to keep fighting, especially here if N'western can throw the first punch.
Minnesota 35, FAU 27
I kept trying to find excuses to play FAU here but I can't come up with them. Minnesota lost their leading rusher but they've rushed for about 4 every game with or without him. FAU isn't going to sneak up on anybody, and Minnesota has revenge and a chance, with a win here, to actually get to as many as 8 wins.
ECU 24, NC st 10
ECU's not going to run the table and I expect this game to be competitve throughout, but I think the Pirates get it done here. St. just has no offense and I don't think the Pirates overlook the last of their BCS conference foes.
Penn St. 40, Temple 14
This is a ton of points but Penn St's been rolling big spreads so far this year. I don't think Temple will handle getting down early after the heartbreakers the last two weeks. Still, too many points to lay.
Purdue 31, CMU 14
These teams played twice last year, the Boilers smoking the Chips during the reg. season and then eking out a terrific, and very entertaining, bowl game. CMU is a solid team, but I'm leaning towards the points here. They don't really seem to care too much about the early season drubbings, so long as they get it done in the MAC.
Ohio St 37, Troy 17
Troy is a solid team, possibly best in the SB, but I see OSU letting their frustrations out here. Troy also has Okie St on deck, who I believe they beat last season. Not that OSU is every a look-ahead, but if they get down they could easily check out.
Bama 28, Ark 10
Bama should roll tide in this one - depends if they want to play. Arky's got a brutal schedule the next few weeks and while I was seriously considering them against Texas last week, I think Bama would be the play here, though its always tough to trust real youngsters on the road.

Adding, in the vein of the others:
Va. Tech 19(+2), UNC 16
Before the season started this looked like a great time to play on NC, an up and comer at home against a perennial powerhouse whose a bit down. If UNC had lost at Rutgers and VPI was 3-0 I would probably be playing the Heels here. As it is, with Taylor in the lineup and at least getting the Hokies to hope that they will outscore their opponents when they have the ball, and UNC coming off a high after the Rutgers thrashing, I think Tech prevails su here.

BC 24, UCF 13
Two solid defensive teams who are going to pound the ball. BC is solid but not anything special this year, so UCF could pull the upset, but I don't think the knights do in this one. BC controls the ball and grinds this one out.
Maryland 21, EMU 10
Let down here for the Terps who showed in weeks 1 and 2 that they can bog down. EMU sticks around in this one, as I think Md's offensive outburst against a high-tempo Cal team playing early on the other side of the country, was a fluke.
Akron 28, Army 24
Akron is a middle of the road Mac team, Army is one of the worst in the country. This should be one of the few the Knights have a shot at so I think they play hard at home, but Akron pulls it out.
Mizzou 51, Buffalo 21
Turner Gill's squad are tough this year, but they got lucky against Temple. Mizzou's offense has rolled it up against better defenses and while Buffalo should be decent, I don't think they're competitive for more than a half at best.
UCLA 27, Arizona 24
Two teams who figure to be fighting for .500 this year, UCLA is less explosive but better coached and with more fight. They should get it done at home.
BYU 45, Wyoming 13
Wyoming is bad, BYU is good, this line is too high to play. I don't see BYU scoring quite as many as last week, though that would be tough in and of itself. BYU runs this one up and coasts.
ULM 24, Tulane 21
Tulane's been tough the past two weeks against better clubs but I think this one slips past as well. I don't know that much about either club so I probably won't play it, but I think this game will define whether Tulane was lucky to catch ECU and Bama off big wins or whether they're good enough to really be competitive. I think it's the former.
Oregon 31, Boise 17
Boise's the second best team in the WAC but I don't think this team is as good as the last few. Oregon is legit, I'm impressed with the comeback halfway acorss the country at Purdue, but losing Roper hurts. The Ducks still get this one done at home.
Fla 35, Tenn 30
My vote for the best game of the week. The vols will be fired up after what happened in gainesville last year, and I still think the Vols will be competitive here though the UCLA loss hurts their reputation. The bruins aren't near as bad as they were last week, and UT's not as bad as they were week 1.
Col St 24, Houston 21
I'm very much not sold on Houston this year. Competitive at Okie St then drubbed for 3/4's in Dallas against AF. Col St is bad though, and I could very easily be wrong on this one. Still I think the Rams win one of their few here.
Rutgers 42, Navy30
Rutgers offense finally gets it going here, against a team that plays virtually no defense. Any team with any speed is going to give Navy fits and if teel gets the ball to britt and underwood with any kind of accuracy they should get the last two weeks out of their system.

So. Miss 28, Marshall 14
USM has looked pretty good under Fedora, and while Marshall should be better this year than the last few I think USM gets this one done with breathing room in a run at the C-usa title.
Mich St. 30, ND 17
Ringer is legit for the Spartans who should pound the ball all day against the Irish. MSU is smarter, more disciplined, and much more efficient than the bums in Ann Arbor this year and I don't think they beat themselves here.
Utah 31, Air Force 28
Two top MWC teams square off here, in what is probably the best non-BCS conference in recent years. I expected a big dropoff in AF this year but there've been no signs of it. Also, if I remember correctly there've been some major injuries in the Utah D-Line which should hurt against the option. Still, I think Johnson and the Utes find a way to get this one done, but 7.5 is way too many here.
Utah St. 21, Idaho 17
Two of the worst teams in d-1, and two teams I know little about except how bad they are. the 70 pt loss to zona never looked good for the vandals but it looks a little worse after the cats debacle in nm. Utah st. has been slightly more competitive of late, and I see them  taking an ugly one here.
USF 41, FIU 7
I'm usually against taking big lines,especially after the first week or two of the season, but this one looks like a possiblity. I'd lump FIU in with the above game to make a triumverate of teams that would lose to any other three in the country. I still think USF is overrated even after the Kansas loss, but they've shown, for the most part, the ability to roll over teams who are significantly worse than they are. FIU's home field is going to mean absolutely nothing.

Kent St. 31, ULL 26
`The ragin cajuns feature one of the nations best rushing attacks, though I'm not overly impressed by last week's tight one with the Illini. Kent st. is one of those teams I play against frequently and almost never on, but I think they pull this one off, against a one dimensional team.
Ole Miss 25, Vandy 22
Ole Miss is going to be solid this year, and I think they pull this one out, a must win for both teams if they want to go bowling. I think Vandy keeps this one close though. They're very one dimensional with Nickson, but they've showed a lot of fight. As maligned as Vandy's been in the South in recent years, they've played smart, opportunistic and I expect them to be well-prepared. I'm also very against Houston Nutt - I don't think a guy who wins 7 games with McFadden and felix jones is the type of guy to capitalize on talent but regardless I think they win this close one SU.
Ball st. 34, Indiana 27
I do my best to not take many sucker bets, so I'm not playing this one, but this is the kind that's always suckered me in - a very good mid-major against a mediocre BCS team. Position by position Indy has more talent, but they don't have Nate Davis of Dante Love (or James Hardy, more importantly for them). I think those two, pull this one out for the Cardinals.
Wake 28, FSU 21
I don't know what to make of this Noles squad. The past couple years I've expected them to surprise and contend for the ACC, and they've been pretty mediocre. Also, I believe this is the last week for suspensions. In any case, I think this is a competitive game, the kind Wake shouldn't win, but the kind they find a way to. Wake's owned FSU the past couple years, and I think they find a way to make that continue.
Cincy 32, Miami 15
Brian Kelly's one of my favorite coaches and I'm confident he'll find someone who can get it done in Grutza's absence. This is probably the next game on my list as a possibilty of playing, as I think the RedHawks have proven to be, if not overrated as a Mac contender, then at least not up to the task of competing with solid BCS clubs.

Auburn 20, LSU 17
Two top ten teams here - LSU seems better at this point but I think Auburn surprises in this one, particularly after their barn-burner in Starkville. Defense and special teams rule here.
TCU 35, SMU 17
The Horned Frogs are very good this year and I wouldn't be surprised if they somehow sneak up into the MWC championship and a possible BCS bowl. They're the much better team, and they play a brand of football I enjoy, but this SMU team will gel eventually and i think they're moderately competitive in this one.
Georgia 27, AZ st 17
This is a big one, and a spot where ordinarily I would look to play on ASU coming off a tough one against a young team going halfway across the country. However, I've said earlier in the season the Sun Devils are overrated and last year was a bit of a fluke. They're an 8-4, 7-5 type club. I saw the Dawgs win this one.
Fresno 26, Toledo 20
Fresno is the much better team but the Rockets should be a live dog in this one. Fresno just lost their 'biggest game ever' and are making a trip halfway across the country to face a decent team. Fresno's had a history of letting games like this slip but I think they get focused and eke out a tough one.
UTEP 38, NM st28
Both teams have been bad this year but the aggies have been a little bit worse. They have a better coach and better talent and I think they win a high-scoring affair.
Stanford 33, SJ st 20
I think this line is a little low due to the ass-kicking the Pac-10 took last weak. Stanford was one of those, getting drilled at TCU, and SJ St is a mediocre Mac team, who is capable, if they play almost perfectly of knocking one off. However, I think Harbaugh gets them fired up for a must win and the Cardinal cover this one.

Tulsa's rolling which will get things for the day essentially even, with Iowa st just started.
 
Looking ahead to next week, a couple I have my eye on: UNC, Memphis, FSU(though they've looked awful tonight)
