I'm a BIG user of KenPom.com and am actually Mr. Pomeroy is finally charging a cheap subscription fee for his YEARS of hard work.
SOS....Strength of Schedule. Wyoming,...as great as their stats may seem and as highly praised of a Defense they have....have CONSISTENTLY played ALL of their games against some of the worst teams in Division I college basketball. They have the #340 SOS....and there are only 345 teams on Kenpom.
They technically haven't played anybody ranked in the UPPER-HALF of KenPom. Northern Colorado @ home and lost to a team ranked way worse than the team they will see tonight. They lost by 8 points in their ONLY AWAY GAME to UW-Green Bay who is ranked #187.
They are now playing only their 2nd game away AND to a team ranked right around where Wyoming themselves are ranked (#114 Wyoming & #118 Colorado)
Colorado, on the completely OTHER hand, has played the #62 HARDEST SOS of all 345 teams!
Why are they both ranked at around the same ranking on KenPom?:
BECAUSE OF STRENGTH OF SCHEDULE
Wyoming is 7-1 playing cupcake games AT HOME while Colorado is 5-3 as they played tough teams OF THEIR CALIBER and most of those games were NOT at home.
If losing by 8 points AWAY at a #187 UW-Green Bay is anyway of measuring how they will fare AWAY vs a #118 Colorado, Wyoming loses by 10-15 points here.
