We’d love to be able to close games and win
games…but that hasn’t happened here over the last two or three weeks. We’ve got
to learn from it. Can’t be despondent or discouraged.”
Tonight there should be a quicker pace than recent Musketeer
games and provide X with more and easier scoring opportunities as WF averages
68.7 possessions per game (#93). But maybe more importantly, Wake Forest will
not bring the defensive intensity that Xavier has seen from other opponents in
the last month as the Deacons allow 1.012 ppp (#205). In fact, in the 5 other
games that Xavier has faced a defense that allows more than 1 point per
possession, they’ve posted ppp’s of 1.70(!), 1.12, 1.23, 1.08, and 0.95. I
would expect a similar performance tonight.
As for WF, they are good team to have involved in an over as
they average more than 1 ppp on offense, allow more than 1 ppp on defense, and
play at an above average pace.Furthermore, the one thing that they do excel at is getting to the FT
line as their FTA/FGA is second best in the country at 51.3%; and 25.5% of their
scoring coming from the charity stripe (#14). Points being scored with no time
coming off of the clock is always a good thing.
Good luck if you decide to make a play

I give up. Had an entire write up on this game that won't post. This forum becomes increasing more frustrating to work with. If anyone's interested, the play is:
Xavier / Wake Forest Over 127.5

Now that total is up to 135+, I would pass on this play. Plenty of more opportunities on horizon as totals become more readily available as we get into January

Another frustrating loss that comes up only 2.5 points short. Approximately a 70 possession game that saw both teams combine to miss 23 free throws. And somehow inexplicably, X didn't foul in the last :47 seconds despite only being down 7
