As most of you know I rarely do my own threads...but have nothing better to do at this point in the day.
Leans :
Ohio St +10 @ Michigan St *We all know who the better team is in this match-up...and home-court only adds to that fact. I've watched the Spartans this year...and their very guard oriented but still as tenacious as ever on the backboards. But, from the games I've watched I've noticed 1 key factor...their aggressive style of defense and going after offensive rebounding gets them in foul trouble and allows teams to get cheap points from the charity stripe without the clock moving. Ohio St won't be getting many offensive rebounds in this contest so they need to be around 40-45% to have a shot at staying within single digits. Game should end right around the number, but I like the way Ohio St fought at Minnesota. They shot like complete dog shit...but fought till the end to lose by 9. Similar scenario could present itself tonight.
TCU +9 @ Texas Tech *I had the unfortunate luck of having the Red Raiders @ +9 when they went to Stanford and got absolutely ass raped. I started off thinking they may have a decent shot with their style of play...but was completely wrong in that fact and noticed their youth right away. They have 3 key players...and the rest IMO are just bodies on the floor. Roberson is 5'10" at best...very quick...and can make some tough shots...but is a volume shooter to get to his 15ppg. Voskuil has probably the purest jumper in the country...his problem is his quickness...as he has none. He relies on double team and kick-outs or coming off screens to get looks. The player I love most on this team is Singletary. The do everything guy...problem is he's another volume shooter to get his 10ppg. But he's the one guy that has the ability to finish around the rim. TCU in their own right is a young team...but talented across the board...if they can manage to not get into a foot race...they have a great shot at staying within single digits.
Plays :
Illinois St -2.5 @ Bradley *I'm understand it's been since 04' that ISU has gone in and defeated Bradley...but I'd argue that before late last year ISU wasn't much to talk about. Their on a serious roll...and Eldridge & Iguchi have been a dangerous 1-2 punch. Both can straight stroke it from deep and if their hot...this is one tough team to stay close to...take a look at what the did to a solid Evansville squad when they got hot. This series was played close last year...but Illinois St's defeat at Bradley last year was a 76-75 hell of a game...one in which Bradley decided to hit 13 treys. So I wouldn't put all that much weight into ISU losing...as it could've just as easily been a 5pt victory. Ride the bus till the wheels fall off.
Alabama +14 @ Clemson *This line sticks out to everyone I think. Bama has some capable scorers on their team. My concern is toughness, if they show it and hold their own on the glass...they compete with Clemson for 40mins. If they allow Sykes & Booker to have their way...it could be a very long night...being able to contain those 2 without helping or doubling down leaves an easier assignment on the true threats Rivers & Oglesby. They haven't played near the competition that Clemson has...but tonight is their chance to show their true colors. Either a competitive hard-nosed club...or soft as a baby's bottom.
Purdue -3 @ Penn St *I've watched this Nittany Lions team last weekend struggle against a questionable Northwestern team. They struggled for 30mins until Battle decided to get red hot from deep...then Pringle joined the party as well. I'd argue even though Purdue is banged up a bit...their both offensively & defensively better then Northwestern. They have the athletes Northwestern lacked to give Penn St fits. If both teams play average...Purdue wins comfortably. I hate placing a wager on a team knowing they have to play above average to cover...and thats exactly what it will take for Penn St to keep it within 3. Look at the last years match-ups with similar squads...Battle & Pringle struggled...if that happens tonight this bitch is over by halftime.
UTEP +8 @ New Mexico *Doggy of the day here...I love this team...yes their basically a 2 man machine with Jackson & Culpepper but both are studs...and too athletic for this New Mexico team. I played New Mexico ML @ NMSU and was not impressed at all with their style of play. Faris is a freshmen and undersized...he gets his points from offensive rebounding and free-throws...which worked well against a NMSU squad who blows at rebounding...but it wont be the recipe for success with Jackson down there. NMSU kept doubling and helping out down low which left the shooters open Martinez & McDonald...also something which wont happen tonight as Jackson doesn't need the help. Their PG Gary is nothing to write home about..was a good floor general but saw nothing offensively that would scare me. Their one true threat is Danridge...contain him...and UTEP steals one @ The Pit.
Anyway, I'm off to run some errands...feel free to reply to any of the write-ups...I'll be back in about 45-60mins to discuss.

Liking TCU. Not so sure about the Penn St line being so small. Think the house might just be trying to trick us because they know Purdue is much better team. Also like Ohio State. They can be pretty competitive if they can hit some shots. They play good d. Good luck today

Line is low because of home-court and injury questions with Purdue.

1-0...as I thought Ohio St would be down right around the numbers in the last couple minutes...and their ability to make shots late regardless if their meaningful or not saved my bacon.

1-1...Bradley cashed for a lot of people tonight...ending Illinois St win streak...I lucky doubled down and cashed on the 2nd half -3 for ISU...Unfortunately they couldn't come all the way back.
