23-17-1 on Terp games this season
Nice bounce back against VT over the weekend as I finally picked up multiple wins on Terps game plays. Still a tough team to cap right now due to inexperience and a very one-dimensional offense focused on Stoglin gunning and then gunning some more.
Terps head to south beach tonight and play a Miami team that is 3-3 in the conference also. They do not rebound very weel and if the Terps are going to hang here, Len, Padgett and Pankey have got to come up big. They'll have to give us the edge in the frontcourt, contain Kadji and Reggie Johnson and hopefully get one of them in foul trouble.
Miami is a very good FT shooting team though they don't get to the line as often as the Terps. The Terps and Canes shoot the ball about the same and play about the same defensively as far as opponents FG% is concerned. I sort of expect Durand Scott to draw the defensive assignment on Stoglin becuase of his length at 6'5". That huge height advantage could be a real problem for Stogs which translates to a huge problem for the Terps as he will not stop gunning no matter what and our droughts that have done us in very winnable games the last two weeks are due to us haning close, missing a few, forcing shot by Stogs and then digging a double digit hole in a matter of minutes. Look for Turge to make Stoglin play more patient and look to share the ball as he has since the Temple game (at least in the first half of each game).
Mosley has got to score tonight and Len has got to show up. Outside of a couple good games against shot teams, Len has been very disappointing. I know he needs to learn the college game and this isn't Europe or whatever but when you are 7'2", there are certain things you should be able to do regardless if you are playing basketball on fucking Mars. Grab the ball, put your body on people, dunk the fucking ball, block shots. He HAS to start playing better and quit trying to be the Dirk of the ACC. If he plays much better tonight, we hang till the end. I am not impressed with Miami and the environment there flat out sucks so yes it is the road but it will be very bearable.
I think both teams shoot the ball well enough and allow enough possessions by the opponent to score some points tonight. I also think that as well as the Terps get to the FT line (though we aren't greta shooters) and as well as Miami does shoot it well from the charity stripe, this one has a great chance to go over. I have a lean on the Terps also and will make it a single play.
Plays: Over 137.5 (double play)
Terps +10
