YTD ATS: 26-21 (55.3%)

8-6 yesterday.  Bought off of two plays yesterday (Kansas & Tenn-Martin; one of which covered one of which didn't) and in all fairness will count that as 1-1 against my ATS record.

What's up with VCU this year? Did they lose some key players? I looked at that line and it looks enticing but maybe too good to be true

Any chance that ILL-CHI line goes up throughout the day, K? I got CMU at -1 and I'd love to buy some back if it gets higher

I lean West. Mich in that game coolidge... Maynor went to the NBA and Anthony Grant is now coaching at Alabama.  Sanders is their main threat but the guy is constantly in foul trouble.  West Mich played in a lot of close games last year... on paper VCU should be closer to -10 IMO, and that sent out a flag to me that the number was a little too low.

Fishy line to begin with, considering Princeton returns all 5 starters and with all of Manhattan's losses personnel-wise... but I think CMU basically played olé defense on Princeton, allowing them to shoot 58% from the floor... I don't see that happening today.  Shooting three's is a third of Princeton's offense and Manhattan can challenge them in this area.  It's still the ivy league, and Princeton is no Cornell.  Manhattan as a below 5 point dog has faired well recently in this role.  Also, Manhattan has won the last two SU including a victory over Princeton at home.

K I'm on Butler (-2.5 hook) and UNLV (-3 hook) [parlay] as well.

Top scorer out for NW and lost Jeff Ryan (torn ACL) when they played N. ILL.

The Tigers never blow anyone out, so more than 3 I would not be loving it. I also don't have faith in the Jasper cause I don't trust the young guys they have to run the backcourt. New, Comm. COll trans. I really think Davis is a solid PG for the Tigers, and to be honest, I like the fact they lost the past couple of yrs to them.

We will just agree to disagree.

Thanks for the info man!  One more question.  Does Texas have a tendancy to run the score up?  I am a Western Carolina alum and they are predicted to win their division and have some experience coming back (solid guards in Mutumbo and Giles), and some decent depth.  I know this sounds like a "heart" pick but in many cases this year these huge lines favor the dogs.  Is Texas for real?  I know they blew out UC Irvine.  Should I just stay away?

The more I look at it, I think NW can compete with Butler... talk me out of this please.  I give NW an edge on the boards and their ability to draw fouls and create points at the line could be a problem for Butler.  Also a revenge game for NW, especially after they blew what was a 9 pt halftime lead.  Butler has better shooters but if NW can play Big Ten pace and control the tempo, I think this can be close.

Not sure... I have them covering by 30+ points today but for some reason I can't back them today.  I think Texas is for real but was really quite mediocre for the first ten minutes against Irvine until they got their shit together and started pulling away.

Here's a different approach that may help you K.  Northwestern plays a slow methodical type of ball which frustrates undisciplined teams.  Is butler an undisciplined team (thugs may be another way to put it)?  Example: I think it was Clemson that they played last year and clemson was clearly the more athletic team with more talent but NW's disciplined style of ball frustrated them and they looked like the bad news bears out there and lost by almost 20.  Just a thought.  Good luck man!

Butler is returning all 5 starters and they have three high level players (Mack Hayward Howard).  Mack the PG hag almost a 2:1 Asst to TO ratio.  (111:67 as a frosh).  Stevens is a good coach who needs to hold on to this ranking.

I agree with the analysis of the slow Big Ten pace but even with that slow pace and the injuries that NW is facing, Butler should be pulling away mid way through 2H.

I am on Butler obviously and I enjoy hearing the reasons for the other side.
