FGC and FLORIDA discussion ...

Last night at the poker table I was in a deep discussion with this older man who "claimed" to be ex referee for JUCO. When I say claimed, I mean I believed him but can't verify it.. I over heard him talking about the tourney and what not then he came to this game and something stuck with me..

He was talking about the size of Cowboy stadium and how it will be tough for the kids to play in.. He talked about how most arenas have seats that stack up close to the court and you can judge shots and crap like that..but he did say it should favor the more " wide open" game because you will take more shots and can get used to how much space is in this place.. Make a long story short, he thought is would give FGC a major advantage because their style of play which he called "playground" style and not what he would call the " gym rats"...

What do u guys think of that? I usually don't pay much attention to crap like this because EVERYONE always has a story about what they know or may not know on a poker table..

I can verify the size of the place because I'm a season ticket holder but we have never had a basketball game there besides the All Star game ..


Can anyone add to this ?

ya its the same problem with all the games that are played in domes.  teh depth perception is different.  i remember last year at some of the dome games teams lighting it up from 3 so u just really dont know which is why i hate the games being played in places like this. its obviously for the money but they dont play in these places all year.

I think FGC is 6th fastest team, and a good passing team...and I will put my money on them.

I  do think it plays a role but it is hard to tell how. I agree with the man you speak of ( and have played wayyyy tooooo much hoops in my day) more than covers.


Kids who come from the playground and have learned to shoot without a back drop will have an advantage. That said, if you have ever played outside, it is tough to shoot outdoors long range with the wind and other elements.

I would lean to the under but have tried this play many times through the years and it always seems to lose.

It's the same for any dome stadium 
The depth perception is the issue here
It's why Syracuse has an advantage in their home court the carrier dome. The only on campus domed stadium
But in this case neither team plays in a dome so it favors no one

have heard similar things about kids playing at MSG.  i personally think fgcu is heavily overvalued in this spot and the gators roll them

Good feedback folks...

I definitely love the Kansas under but have not yet made up my mind on the Florida game..

If this was a regular season game, I would take the FGC ML and drink a few beers while sweating the game out ... But this is the tourney and its hard to tell..

I was at last years Final Four in the SuperDome in New Orleans and all three games ( 2 semi's and final) went under with Kentucky, Kansas, Ohio State and Louisville who are all pretty good offensive teams

I would lean toward unders in the football stadiums- it just seems harder to shoot, especially 3 pointers with such a backdrop

Hard to believe we are giving a school a chance vs Florida--a team that won it all in 2006-07. THIS WAS THE SAME YEAR THAT FCG OPENED IT'S INAGUARAL SEASON

It is also slightly insane to give them a chance to win. Is it insanity or is it chaos? Butler has proven that in bb, it is possible to control factors that give youy a chance to win. They play smart basketball. They are athletic (more than what I saw in Indiana). 13 is about 6 points too high, but the lines are based on past results. Problem is (for linesmakers) is that this is a new season, and stats can become irrelevant. Boynton will struggle. He is not even half the guard that Jamaal Franklin is, and his numbers are down from previous years. Lot of valid reasons to like FGC--the chaos lines up for them in Texas.

Under 136--Kansas
Over   136-- Florida

And put a small something on the FGC ML +700... Hopefully they will keep it close or take lead in the game so I can pop the Florida in game play..  I will be at the stadium for both games..

I have 2 extra tickets for tonight and will give them to someone if they want to go..the only way u get them is if you take your kid.. I don't sell tickets but I do give away extras to kids and family members of them.. They are season ticket seats so they are good..my buddy can't go so I've been trying to find someone  for him.. Just PM me if u want them but don't waste my time if its u and buddy that want to go because I will NOT give them to u..we started this a while ago and it's priceless to see kids faces at the games.. I get to see my kids faces so I like for other kids to experience it also..Me and my family will be there early and I will leav them at will call..

To be completely honest, I don't have a clue.. I liked Michigan but then this guy last night  got me thinking and I can't get it out of my head.. Don't know what to think or how the players will do out there.. I'm going to enjoy the game and root for GOOD basketball..

You put a gun to my head and I take Michigan.. But I do like both defenses to play hard tonight..

I think Gators win really big here but I am wrong alot.

Am I the only person on the planet who thinks FGC must be able to play, just a little?
They have won two tourney games is all, more than can be said of Gonzaga?
In the crunch, they are playing great. They are flattered by the Orange, Louisville and Marquette all advancing, in that they beat the number 2 Big East team in the first round.
Maybe, just maybe, they can play?
Florida had a great year but the SEC is so weak this year...they lost 3 of their last 4 road games and did not play well on a neutral court game against KSU early in the year. The lost in the SEC tourney on a neutral court to Ol Miss,they are not invicible. There is SO much parity this year, I am going to play the dog.
