Perfect example right there about the charging rule needing to be addressed. That shouldn't be a charge on Triche. If it was called as a block all the time the Michigan defender would be inclined to try and block that shot. Now Triche gets a foul that he shouldn't have.
I didn't wager on this game either and I don't care who wins. Just a disclaimer.
the way they call charges is horrific. how can they reward a defender who gets in under an ofensive player who is jumping and trying to score?
this sport pretty much sucks. how do people watch it? there is no rhythm to the end of games. the last few minutes of a close game are all about the officials. the whistle blows nonstop for fouls. and the few times the refs don't call a foul, a team calls one of their 50 timeouts. this sport is painful to watch and it gets worse towards the end of a close game. instead of it being more exciting, it becomes more painful. i don't know how people can watch it consistently.
it's odd to see a sport where i'd rather see a blowout so the clock doesn't stop 20 times in the last 5 minutes.

One other rule I would love to see changed like the nba is that when a timeout is called, that they inbound from their own end instead of having to run length of court, so then it would make the last 30 seconds or so of games more exciting. I agree the shot clock should be 30 secs and I am iffy on the 6th foul since it is 8 mins less than an nba game, but agree on the jumpball more than anything, it is really stupid and really hurt wichst tonight. Never have seen such a quick whistle on that tieup though.

Jump ball of minimal impact as both the actual jump ball and alternating possessions tend to penalize good defensive plays/reward bad offensive plays
Fouls should not be changed to six as this would negate a signicant part of strategy and minimize affect of stupid play. Just look at nba where # of fouls by a given player rarely impacts game
Changing shot clock to 30 would be excellent idea
The biggest problem w college ball is as was referenced that there is a legit charge maybe 1 out if 4 times but refs consistently give it to the defender. Maybe cuz these refs have not played the game???

The reason why college hoops doesn't use the jump all on tie ups is because there might be a disadvantage in height in the jump all. For example...a 7 foot tall player tie up the ball with a 6' 4" player. Well, the 7 footer has a huge advantage and likely win the jump all. There is an easy solution. Whenever there is a tie up, have a jump all but let each team choose the player on their team that they want to use to jump. More than likely, each team will choose their tallest player for the jump all. Problem solved and no more height disadvantage and arrow possession crap.
There should definitely be 6 fouls. Let's face it, college players are not as smart on the court and they will commit stupid fouls, which will accumulate their foul totals and it will force their coach to sit them for an extended time. As a result, the quality of play on the court goes down because the "better" players are not playing, but sitting with foul troubles. I guess this correlates to lack of scoring in college hoops because the "better" players are not always playing on the court.
A 24 second shot clock is too fast for most college teams to run their offense. The college players are not as skilled offensively as the NBA players, so they need extra time to generate a good shot or possession. You don't want them rushing their offensive plays and chucking up bad shots because the shot clock is about to run out? of course not. That would create bad basketball.
The 2 team fouls with less than 2 mins in a game rule should be implemented like in the NBA. For example, team A is leading team B by 2 pts with 5 secs left in the game. Team B has the ball and a chance to tie or win it with a 3 pointer. Let's say team A only has 3 team fouls, so they have 3 fouls to give before the bonus free throws is rewarded to team B. Team A can foul team B 3 times in that 5 sec stretch and the time would run out without giving team B a chance to run their offense. The new rule is if there are 2 team fouls committed with less than 2 mins in a game, then the other team gets to shoot free throws.
The last thing is that the 5 sec inbound rule is rarely enforce by the refs. The refs should start calling a 5 sec inbound violation if the inbounding team cannot in bound the ball in 5 secs.

How about this? FOUR FOULS! Yeah, you might actually have to play more than 7 guys, what a shock.
30 second clock sounds good to me.
How about we cut down the number of timeouts? Whenever a college team scores three consecutive baskets, it's a major panic!
Intentional fouls just don't get the penalty they deserve. Any foul last 1:30-AUTOMATIC THREE FREE THROWS. UNDER ONE MINUTE, FOUR FREE THROWS.
Coaches can't stand watch the players play. As soon as a game gets any semblance of an exciting flow to it, one of those meddling egocentric bastards will use a timeout to disrupt it.

Disagree with all 3. Why not just pay em too. Just leave the game alone. With that being said, how bout a technical every time a whinning coach steps on the playing floor.

I agree with 30 second shot clock........5 foul is right. That's part of the strategy in college that the nba does not have.....and teams like Louisville might actually hurt another player if they allowed them to foul even more... The circle for charges should be the same size as nba.......and they need to really focus on the actual rule with the charge being that the defense player has to be set before the offensive player leaves his feet. To much sliding into place after player leaves feet.....Its a huge disadvantage to the more athletic teams........ there is couple other instances that bother me regardless if the d player is set.......when a d player is chasing around screens and the offensive player without the ball tries to draw a charge......it happened to dieng for Louisville either yesterday or last weekend......it should be an automatic no call when someone tries to draw a charge on someone making a pass....if the pass is out of their hands its nothing.........these are just things that bother me specifically........i just think a lot of these rules allow the inferior team to be more competitive.........almost like pulling one over on the refs
