As a Heat fan, this is the biggest tease ever for me. I don’t even like Russ that much but I was excited to get 2 stars in one offseason. Heat offered Goran, Dion and Winslow, and OKC trades Russ for Chris Paul?
The worst contract in the NBA and a poor decision for a team destined on a rebuild. He could’ve gotten so many better deals from other teams as well. But i guess Chris Paul and 2 late round picks for him was exciting, for MR presti.
Anyway, Heat might’ve saved themselves from the Westbrook disaster, still the most overrated player in the NBA in my opinion, but they must add another star like Beal or Wall, two guys that are rumored to be traded to Miami.

More I think about this, the more confused I am about this, Presti better flip Paul for more picks or something, Detroit and Phoenix could have offered 3 picks and had enough room to take on russ

Cp3 will make the heat better in the east for sure. Still think hes over rated but shi.t as a heat fan you gota take what you can get at this point. Funny how hes going to flip russ twice basically lol.

More like "Something". First of all, OKC Ownership (aka, "Governors", lol) had to get rid of Russ. His bitching with fans was the last straw. IF they can move CP3, they will and get a bunch of "Process" pieces.
CP3 can be a horrible teammate but he can shoot a little. Expensive for sure.
The big question is: Will Russ get a State Farm gig now with Harden...or will CP3 go solo with the short little hispanic agent?

I meant dumb not because of trading Russ, but because of the trade itself, teams like the suns or pistons could offer more picks and young pieces. There is a chance they will be stuck with Cp3, and that would be terrible for a team trying to reload and rebuild

More dumb stuff from the Thunder GM, he wants to send chris paul to miami, but will also give the Heat 2 picks to likely take him.
So what this means is that Russ got traded for heat players. Paul and 2 picks for likely goran and olynk. so OKC gets them for everything the rockets sent them. But the thunder wouldnt accept winslow, goran and picks? This makes no sense

They said they spoke to westbrook and wanted to do right by him. He didnt want to go to miami and they respected that. You can call it dumb but some people are nicer than others. Im not so sure you wouldnt have done the same thing after many years with this guy. That many years in nba is like 30-40 years in real life lol.

Idk about you, but all ive been hearing past week is that Russ wanted to go to Miami and they were "atop of his list".that line reported by many. but still, thunder couldve asked for another asset from the rockets at least, an eric gordon? or house? IDK but should have gotten more then paul and 2 picks

There are a few aspects in the trade:
(1) For most of the teams, absorbing Westbrook's large contract is going to bump the total team payroll quite a lot. A team may be reluctant to pull off such a trade if it does not make them a serious contender.
(2) Westbrook's contract has a 15% trade kicker. If OKC sends him to a team that he does not want to go to, then OKC needs to pay him 15% of his remaining contract. On the other hand, if Westbrook accepts the trade, the kicker can be negotiated and voided like in this one with the Rockets.
(3) Westbrook is OKC's franchise player, so they might also incline to respect his will in such a farewell trade.
(4) The CP3 to MIA trade is still under discussion and it would be better to comment on that after the deal is finalized and details are revealed. The media rumors -- especially on the details of the trade -- at this stage can't really be trusted. Even if there are 2 picks involved, you still need to see which teams and years the picks come from, whether they are first-rounders or second-rounders, and how the picks are protected. Not all picks have the same value.

yes your right about most of those...but with #4 something interesting, after this FA everyone should officially have learned to never trust the media or "sources". They have been wrong so many times recently, (ex: Kawhi to lakers, Russ to Heat, etc etc)

For all that work that CP3 did for the Rockets, they dumped him like yesterday's news. Too old, c ya. NBA is becoming like the NFL in that way, no respect for old injured guys.
Will it work I don't know, but I'm a big D'antoni and Rockets fan I hope they find a way!!

exactly, you shouldn't get to much respect by just staying and keep on accepting super max deals...

If only there were more NBA teams, the talent pool for GMs within this thread alone would be able to sustain minimum 2 more franchises...Phillip and EastOakland - get your resumes ready!

Remember the guy tore his hamstring after taking the team to game 7 against the Warriors, who basically had an all star team -1 player
He was an intelligent player-spacial awareness, skill will the ball, just a joy to watch. not just a pop-a-shot player.
harden the same-not just a pop-a-shot guy, he has his step back and drive to the hole-it's like playing chess with the defender.
team is just a joy to watch
I'll remember Paul fondly, and I'll miss the fun State Farm commercials

Houston is built for the regular season where you can't touch anyone - exactly Harden's and Russ' game. But come playoff time, refs progressively swallow their whistles more the deeper you go. And suddenly, Russ and Harden are way less effective - combined with neither being exactly young, and the overuse they get on the offensive end. (Though admittedly, they tend to take defense off) So yeah, there will be excitement when Russ and Harden go off in regular season games and how awesome they look at times.....those are the times to get oppo bets on them from the U.K. bookies.
