Is it? Let's consider you are profitable, will the books continue to take your action? Or when you start winning will they ban you? I would like to hear from people with experience.

Short answer: Yes, but only for a chosen few.
What are you aiming to do though? Make living or get rich? I think of making a living as 80-120k. I think that's very doable.

There are so many ways to disguise your winning action, that is not a problem. (Clones, runners, multiple accounts, embedded signal misdirection programs for apps) You can do it from Timbuktu if you want to. The key (no pun intended to our elder statesman) is to get the information you need to win consistently. THAT is as much an art as the science you have to have to use it.
For sure it takes time, planning and financing.

Well, maybe not that easy Key. If you're cashing sportsbook tix at the cage consistently, believe me, they notice. Anything out of the ordinary, they notice. And if those tix are for amounts big enough for them to care about, well, you're on Candid Camera all the time anyway.
Better wear a disguise. (Which at your age, might be a good idea anyway)

Atleast 10 years to start. And not 10 years of it being a hobby. You need to work it like a fulltime job +overtime. There were times when I capped fulltime that I would work for up to 16 hours a day during football season. 6 days a week. Saturday was a little more relaxed, as a lot of the work was watching games. And Sundays were like my day off because I didn't focus on NFL football but I would end up putting 3-4 hours in Sunday night before bed. Go to bed at 2 or 3am, back up at 8am. You see, even though I made my own hours, it still took the discipline of getting up and starting work each day. No sleeping in till 11am or noon. So yeah, you can make a living. You can make a living doing a lot of things if you're putting in those kinds of hours.

Most bettors don't know this but if you are a consistent long term winner, 90% of the legal online books out there will not cater to you. They will first limit you then completely close your account and return your money or simply give you limits that are not worth betting. There are only very few online books that will still cater to winners but if you build your profile and bet more than couple of thousand a game, they will move the line a lot, each time you bet the limit.
I highly recommend reading the 3% compounding money management strategy and the how to win at sports betting article at bettingresource.com They cover a lot of this and the method and spreadsheet used there will get you limited or banned in most books like bet365. You will need books like pinnacle/betcris/bookmaker if you are a long term winner.

You can. Some people make millions, others like me are semi pro (and in my case make more from betting than from my rehular job). I couldnt care less if you believe me or not. I had been a loser for 3 years after getting to sports from poker. Was down to my last 5 k and decided to be disciplined on March 5, 2018 :) Quit football and started looking for spots to exploit betting live in NBA. Then did the same with baseball and football.
Ive built my roll to 90k currently. I had 100 in March and its been downhill since then. Lost 15k in April and have not managed to get out of the slump yet. Maybe Im just not good enough in baseball...
You can, but its a tough fucking ride, and most guys are simply not disciplined enough or not good enough. Ive had 3 friends go broke trying. If you are not obsessed and love it, dont even try it. Stress is huge, you become a slave of gametimes, you put as much work as a regular job. Its just a matter of passion. For me time flies while I do this... whereas while Im working I procastinate and more or less hate it. I dont have the balls to quit my job yet and will remain semi-pro for a while.
Good luck if u go for it and Id gladly try to help

When I read a thread like this (they pop up every few months), I always get amused by the high percentage of posters offering encouragement when a significantly below 1% actually succeed.
And by succeed, I mean you are paying all of your bills with enough profits to pay your taxes and put 10-15% of your pre tax earnings into a retirement fund. Remember, as a self employed individual, saving for retirement is crucial. There will be periods, if not years, when you will have significant losses. If you end up broke even once, you just become part of the 99.9% of people that thought they could beat the system
If we were having this discussion atop a 300 foot high cliff over the ocean, I would not encourage you to jump when 99/100 perished before you.
