it would be probably a high failure rate but if it is a game ender then....try it!!
Bottom of the 9th, tie game guy on 2nd:
the ball is singled into center or right field....guy should score depending if he has any speed and outfielder's arm.
But.....I have seen this MANY times, the guy rounding 3rd base looks into the outfield(for some reason?).....then this would be a read by the catcher who KNOWS FOR FACT the run will score. Catcher pops up (when the base runner is looking back into the outfield) and charges him like its going to be a run down.
The catcher would have to either not show the ball(like it's in his mitt) or fake pretend throw hard so the runner cant get good sight whether the ball is there or not.
If the runner takes the bait and retreats towards third the ball would have been cut off or thrown to 3rd direct and then he WOULD be in a run down.

You would have to save this all season for something like a WS game or whatever because doing this EVERY night teams will never believe it. It's a once in a year trick or decade trick.

Wow, great idea bro! 200 years of baseball and you have solved this riddle. Congratulations my brother. The third base coach standing directly next to this runner (in addition to the entire crowd/dugout) would be so in awe of this genius ruse that they wouldn't even notify the runner of this very obvious trick. Truly a game-changing idea, congrats again.
