Bulluci is goin to win... Good odds for him on clay here
10* for me
I believe it's far from a sure thing. These two already played once this year, albeit on hard court, which was a dominant performance by Alexandr, where he faced only one break point (which was saved) all match.
Alexandr could have won his opener to the clay season last week against Diego Schwartzman. Diego lost the first set, and then held a critical service game in the second set after saving 6 break points, Alexandr was of course broken the next game, and went on to lose the second set, by that deciding break. I believe that initial match experience on clay this season is important, and something he can build off of.
Many may not be aware of this, but Alexandr has shown he likes playing in Rio. In 2014 he made the final, where he eventually lost to Rafa. Along the way he knocked off clay court specialists Almagro, Bagnis, Fognini (6-1,6-1), and all rounder Ferrer.
Thomaz has been far from dominant to begin his clay court season. Of the four matches he has played, only one was a straight sets win, in the other three, it went to a third and deciding set.
I'm quite happy taking the more proven player at this tournament, who happens to be an underdog. Not too often that happens.
