Last weeks saga unfolded just as we had predicting, making for some fantastic emotional television. Unfortunately the 49ers were unable to cover the number, however they did win SU confirming the emotional swings were worth preparing for. In 2 weeks, that storyline will come full circle in Carolina when the Panthers host the Saints...
Tonight a new storyline unfolds, granted the entanglement of these two conferences dates back to week 8 when the Lions miraculously defeated the Cowboys on the final drive, preventing the Cowboys from taking a a 2 game lead (plus one head to head game) on the at the time imploding Eagles (who by the way, since that week of the Cowboys devastating loss are undefeated)...
When you have the cities of Chicago, Detroit, Green Bay (in football terms this is a major city), Philadelphia and Dallas involved, you know there is quite the audience for this saga, and a heart wrenching emotional rollercoaster is sure to ensue...
With the Lions loss to the Eagles yesterday, playoff hopes were reinstilled in both the Bears and the Packers and the Eagles have put the pressure on the Cowboys. Remember just as in your favorite TV series...your team being eliminated from the playoffs is like your favorite character being killed off the show (RIP Jimmy Darmody)...There is no better time for dramatic effect and in order to create anticipation for the next season then killing off characters in the season finale and it is no surprise that we see this all the time in TV. These two divisions will have exactly that, week 17 (the NFL season XLVIII finale) will feature the killing off of 2 beloved and/or hated characters (depending on your vantage point). The show just can’t afford to lose characters of this popularity level too soon.

That being said if you looking at the remaining schedules and the tiebreakers for these 2 divisions we can make an educated guess on what is needed tonight for max entertainment value.
If the Eagles are 1 game behind the Cowboys, going into the final game, and the Eagles win, the Cowboys will still advance to the playoffs with a better divisional record (assuming the cowboys beat the redskins, but for them to be 1 game ahead, in my opinion they will have too). This means the Eagles at a minimum must be tied with the Cowboys in order for us to attain max entertainment value in week 17. If the Eagles are up 1 game on the Cowboys, and the Cowboys defeat the Eagles, the Cowboys will advance on head-to-head (perhaps this is the most entertaining). Either way the only situation that must be avoided is Cowboys 1 game up on Eagles going into week 17. For the Bears, the road looks much tougher and they will lose a tie breaker if they end up with the same record as the Lions because they lost both games head to head. Thus, they will need to be tied going into the final week when they host the Packers and the Lions head to Minnesota. Perhaps by week 17 they will already be dead, but one thing is for sure, we will extend their life as long as we can for the purposes of entertainment. If the Cowboys win tonight and the Bears lose, we run the risk of having the Bears and the Eagles eliminated before week 17, a risk we just cannot take.
MNF Play:
Chicago Bears -1.5
Disclaimers:
1. You will be able to find flaws in my logic, I am not here to offer science just one perspective that may turn out to be wildly insignificant and downright wrong. I have had success seeing things in this manner in the past and i’ve also had losing streaks.
2. For the anti-conspiracy people: I am not here saying games are fixed, there are many metaphysical factors at play. We the viewer are the one’s that want maximum entertainment value, not just the NFL front office, and we are unconsciously or consciously (although I doubt it) WILLING certain outcomes into play. For you strict materialists, this is how home-field advantage is so massively significant, you have a stadium full of people WILLING (consciously or unconsciously) in a certain direction. The human WILL is a complex topic that is being massively simplified in this short paragraph. I am not overly interested in getting into a intense metaphysics debate on a sports betting forum, but I do value and respect and difference in opinion.
3. For the conspiracy people: I am not saying games are not fixed. I’ll leave it at that.

This storyline will carry on into next weeks episode, where we are sure to get some good drama between these conferences again...The Cowboys host the Packers who may or may not have their QB back...The Eagles play @ the Vikings, and the line is intriguing, seems to suggest we could be in for another twist in the story. The Bears will be dogs at Cleveland, which could mean another interesting twist, and then we will get the Lions and the Ravens on Monday. By Monday we will certainly know more about how this particular saga is playing out and it should make for an interesting saga...especially with the Ravens fighting for a wild card spot...

Starting to make sense but how does the league implement the plan? Wouldn't you think it would take a lot of people and eventually somebody would talk and reveal the plan?

^^^Referees can mold the games VERY easily. A couple questionable personal foul and PI/defensive holding calls in the MNF game tonight. So long as they know who NEEDS to win, the refs will ensure that outcome.
This has been one of the sketchiest years of recent memory for me when it comes to officiating...

It is an interesting possibility...the game that I am eyeing however is the Bears @ the Eagles....here is why
the eagles and cowboys are going to come down to the last game in Dallas...that is my primary theory that I am operating on...everyone wants it...even Philly fans they just don't know it...A philly fan dream is to beat the cowboys and clinch the division...a cowboys fan dream is to beat the eagles to clinch...
SO, a situation is viable that if the Cowboys win at the redskins (which given the current state of that franchise is likely) a eagles win over the Bears would be irrelevant to their cause and they would have to beat dallas regardless...this means we have a situation in which the Bears could steal a game in philly and take that one down to the season finale too...
too early to tell but lots of drama left to be had...we will keep an eye on it closely and look at the line for hints

We are implenting it with every thought...we want the excitement...think about a time where you bet on a team, maybe a favorite...and even though as they blew the game you were getting furious, that bizarre part of you you can't explain was still rooting for or impressed with the other team...that is the part of all of us that is affecting the outcome metaphysically...
there is no better example than the world cup, when literally the entire world is watching...strange things happen

So the officials are in on it! Don't you think somebody would eventually come clean leak this type of conspiracy?
I don't want to take this thing to far down the rabbit hole, that was never my intention...but you ought to realize that the media is owned by owners with vested interests...this goes outside of sports, in fact its tentacles touch everything...depending on what an individual wants to say, there may be nobody willing to hear him...there is a long hidden history of individuals who said too much and disappeared or who's reputations were destroyed (outside of sports)...
I'm not even necessarily a strong proponent of the games are fixed although nothing will shock me anymore...however, i know that if there were one they are well hidden...a player this year called out last years super bowl and was ridiculed by every media outlet...so simple to flip the switch and turn sanity into craziness when you own the talking heads...

Zamigo you NAILED it. I was telling my buddies this ALL DAY, and NOBODY believed me. I told them same thing.
So where does this play out next?
This is gonna play out for sure so I wanna think on it then go for it.
For next week what does this win bring?
What I've learned is that if you follow the saga early on, the line will give strong indications as to how it will all play out...
pre-game the Bears were +2.5 at the Browns next week...we will see what we get now, and it should clue us in on a potential outcome...this should unveil a better idea for the playoff picture
best of all we get the Lions and Ravens on Monday so we will keep a close watch on teams like Miami and the rest of the NFC Central...its shaping up to be a great episode next week

Regardless of whether you're right or not, just the entertainment value of this perspective makes it worth the price of admission. If you'd applied this theory three weeks or so ago in NCAAF, well, we'd be right where we are in the BCS title game. The value in this perspective is simply Maximum Fun, or life reflects art as run by Daytime TV. Love it... Keep havin' fun... BTW, the world isn't smart, organized, or insightful enough to manage a conspiracy...

Do you think this applies to San Diego on Thursday? I realize we aren't as big of a sports city as some of the east coast teams.
I think this is how all of life works so this is applicable for everything every day...however, this doesn't mean we can see it all, sometimes we catch a glimpse of how things might play out other times it remains a mystery...
In that particular game I don't think I see an angle dramatically that makes it appealing although my initial reaction to the spread was that it was quite large...BUT if somehow the Chargers pull out a win on the road at Denver, i think the stage is set for some fantastic dramatic occurrences in the next 2 weeks in regards to that AFC wildcard slot...this is the key to profiting off of this vantage point...catching the set up in advance then when everything is aligned you know in your heart of hearts how this has to go
