Yet another terrific season. Great to see you finish strong and end w a significant plus figure.
Know you need no help and are probably well aware of everything I'm going to say, but just in case...I want to offer a couple thoughts about TB, a team I am more in touch w than any other.
Like a prisoner on death row who's sentence is commuted at the last minute and released from prison, the Rays are loving life and will relish every moment of their 2011 playoff lives (having been given post-season life at the last minute of the regular season). They are on a high, walking on cloud 9 after Wed (and the whole final month). They are a loose bunch anyway, much due to Joe Maddon. They are a tight group all on the same page w NO pressure at this point but tons of momentum.
They are also a very good team, worthy of being in the playoffs. Their starting pitching is deep and as good as anyone's, solid defense and speed to disrupt. Longo, BJ and Shoppach are all seeing the ball well and Damon is steady eddy as well as clutch. They have a good mix of youth, enthusiasm, hunger and playoff experience as the core players plus Damon have plenty of post season play the past 3 yrs.
This makes for a rare combination and a dangerous team. I like them to win it all and think they are a solid wager to win the AL and WS. The odds will drop should they win tonight, but even 5 to 1 is a nice payoff and makes for a favorable risk/reward given the circumstances of how they made the playoffs on top of their talent.
Hope you get a chance to check this thread tomorrow, even if in a hungover state. mb
