What do you think of Florida -14. Let's be honest, Florida's offense isn't the same, but I think the expectation level is so high that people think they are terrible. And they are playing the Kentucky Wildcats a team that has only come within 14 point ONCE in the past 7 years. Big game before the bama game. Maybe a back door cover as Urban starts to rest, but not likely. I don't care how bad everyone thinks the offense is...

Hartline is a good, seasoned SEC QB and has some weapons. Despite score differentials, teams have moved the ball on the Gators and that concerns me. Also of concern is the constant stream of mental errors on behalf of Gator O. I'm very much a homer (I was a fan when we were 0-10-1 my senior year), so I say this with a tinge of optimism: Gators square away a lot this week at the expense of a Wildcat squad that has hope coming into the Swamp, and leaves with their Cat tails between their legs. Gators 34-13, running away.

It's a cover. Kentucky is good, but not great. They beat up on weaker teams, but this week....they're the weaker team playing at The Swamp. The Gators won't even let em get a sniff.

No way Kentucky scores 20 on our defense. I like Florida a lot. The receivers are starting to come together, and Urban wants to get this offense some confidence before our trip to Bama.

The Wildcats in the Swamp have a very slim chance of covering 14 points imo. The Gators will have to lend a helping hand for it to happen ?? Nuff said ........

I'm a huge Kentucky fan and have no confidence whatsoever of the Cats covering 14 in the Swamp. I have many memories of solid UK teams going to Gainesville and getting absolutely pounded.
Kentucky hasn't played anyone yet, but Hartline is still a lot better than he was a year ago. He'll make some plays vs. Florida, but he'll also make a lot of poor decisions (and scared 2-yard checkoff dumps) when getting pressured. Kentucky has a really good offensive line and Hartline hasn't gotten pressured yet, but he will Saturday.
Cobb and Locke are as good a duo as you'll find anywhere and they'll give Florida some problems, but I look for Brantley to get on track this week, Hartline to take a step back in his progression, and Florida to cover with relative ease. Hope I'm wrong but I seriously doubt it.

Also, Kentucky's starting fullback, who opens the holes for speedster Derrick Locke, is out with an injury. This *severely* hampers UK's ability to run the ball.
Barring Florida playing like total horse shit, they cover.

No, teams really haven't moved the ball against the Gators at all and especially in the red zone, and thats amazing due to the fact the offense has put them in awful situations.

This game will be a clone to Florida's first 3 games, slow start offensively, take Kentucky at the half, Florida for the game, and the over is certainly worth taking, defense/special teams is strength of team but Kentucky will be done and open it up, only one thing will happen then and that is points maybe for Kentucky but most likely Florida......

Locke and Cobb are incredible playmakers. florida hasnt seen anything like these two guys in their first 3 games. i think UK can put up 21-24 points, which means Florida will have to score 35-38 to cover. this isnt your typical florida offense. very conservitive. no playmakers down the field. id avoid looking at the history between these two schools and look at what they put on the field this year. im not saying florida cant cover this because they have the talent to do so, but no way i would lay double digits in the SEC unless its alabama. bol on your play.

and its already been mentioned several times in this thread....sandwich game with bama on deck next week. im not saying kentucky is the play, but id play the over before i laid the chalk with florida.

i agree with diamond..over is the way to go here. kentucky will be pullin out all the stops to get a big road win and that will lead to either points or alot of time for florida to have the ball which will lead to points also.

Agree with that. I see Kentucky putting up 24 or so points - but I also see Florida scoring around 40. Conservative offense or not, Kentucky's defense isn't very good and I've seen too many good UK teams get blasted at the Swamp to make me optimistic as a fan.
Don't put too much stock into Kentucky's early games. They have a couple of legit playmakers, but Western Kentucky and Akron are literally two of the worst teams in Division I. Playing Florida at Gainesville is a different ballgame.

i really wish Kentucky would schedule a little tougher. its hard to get a solid read with such a garbage schedule. i think if hartline can play within himself and avoid turning the ball over, kentucky can hang here, but i wont be playing them , just the over perhaps.

Anyone that says that Kentucky is better than anyone is foolish. They have played 3 teams with 1 win combined. Yes Kentucky has the SEC leading rusher and so would Bama and alot of other teams if they played cupcakes as is their primary back and do not play 2 back systems like Bama. Locke gets all the carries. All this talk about sandwich game and all of that is way overrated. Florida probably has the top 2 defenses against the rush. They will stop Locke in his tracks; he will be lucky to get 50 yards on them. One thing you can say about the FL team is its defense is really really good. Their offense still scores 35 points and whenever they play Kentucky they run it up; every single year there are very few teams I would take getting 14 in the SWAMP and I certainly would not take an unproven kentucky team against a FL team that people are railing on. There is no way they score 21 and if that happens then FL will put up 50; FL is getting better every game and their defense already is in mid season form. I would love to see the Kentucky people who play them, Fl gets ball scores a td; Kentucky gets it throws an int for a TD. How are you feeling now about your cover; history shows its either FL or dont even play it. Also Kentucky qb is average AT BEST; he has played terrible teams and hasnt even thrown up big numbers; playing terrible teams nonconference is what hurts you when you have to play a real team on the road. FL is 10 in the rankings so if they get a big lead they will not let up.

Florida has played 3 teams with a combined record of 4-4. Those 4 wins are vs D-1aa Stony Brook, D-1aa Tenn. Martin, and 2 of the worst d-1a teams in the country in colorado State and Eastern Michigan. Florida has played no one either. Florida has one of the top 2 rush defenses in the country? They allowed 244 to USF. Stony Brook held USF to less.Their offense hasn't scored 35 points yet this year. 31, 31, and 27. You can't really draw any conclusions by their opposition since its so early in the season. Florida has looked mediocre vs their weak opposition, UK has looked mediocre vs their weak opposition. I hope Florida kills UK. Hoping to get Bama below -7 vs Florida. If Florida's defense is in mid season form they are in for a long year given their opposition . You have got to be a Florida fan with all the ranting and raving.

To jwheels (sorry I don't know how to do the cut and paste thing): while it may appear at first blush that teams aren't moving the ball v. the Gators since they're only averaging around 250 yds/gm, 2 teams have put around 250 yds against the secondary, and one team averaged better than 6 yds/rush. No team had a balanced attack of any sort, but you'd have to call stats like that a bit disconcerting. I do agree things slow down v. the Gators in the red zone, but just the fact the ball has been moved by teams that shouldn't move it at all is a concern to me.

Thanks everyone you've given some great insight and I still like the Gators to cover. I do understand the sandwich game with Bama on deck... Maybe a backdoor cover if Urban pulls players out with a lead going into the second half. I say Gators try to put this away early to rest Demps and company. But I like Florida.
