They were close to getting the 1 seed in the AFC but then screwed up one game and now the 5th seed.  Yes they lost to the Ravens at home.  But i would figure this would been a pickem at worst or chargers - 1.  Is there a reason for this?  I guess this line means Ravens win pretty easy?  Chargers has never been good in the playoffs ever.

I know home field is about 3 points.  But this line is saying the chargers are only half a point better than the ravens on a neutral field?  Well when they played ravens earlier at home, were were not much big of favorites anyways.  But with what they done, wouldn't the chargers respect a much larger line?  Because had they beaten the ravens, they would have gotten the 1 seed.

This line looks like a ravens win.

Agreed... Ravens SU, you won't be disappointed. Chargers have consistently bombed out in the past and I don't see anything changing in Baltimore. The Ravens are usually decent contenders and the defense is always on par. More than one turnover and the Chargers are done in my opinion. I'd say that's more likely than not.

Chargers will have to go cross-country, Then have a 10:00 A.M. body time kickoff. Not a good recipe...

Line-makers handicap the public's perception:

“We’ve got opinions on games and we’ll take a stand on some of them, that’s how we make our money.” Bob Scucci

(Coast Casinos director of race and sports)as told to Chad Millman on the radio show 'Behind the Bets'.

“Ninety percent of the time it’s not two-way action,” Hilton Las Vegas sportsbook manager Jay Kornegay

Where do you get the idea chargers consistently bombed out.  Maybe in the schottenheimer era.

Chargers are 4-1 ats in their last 5 road playoff games.

Ravens also money in the playoffs.

I wanted to bet the chargers but they have no speed at wr and Rivers is a statue. Both recipes for disaster against the Baltimore defense.

They will need to sell out to stop the Baltimore rushing attack but I’m not sure they are physical enough to do so.

The NFL hosed the Chargers with the 10:00 Pacific start. There's no good reason to stick them with the early game. That may screw with them mentally. OTOH, Philip Rivers won an early playoff game at Cincy several years ago in cold weather. He deserves respect from the bettors.

The Chargers bettors are banking on the team making adjustment to Baltimore run game after playing against them recently.

I believe that's not likely because Anthony Lynn coaches LA. The coaching mismatch favors Baltimore. John Harbaugh has won it all, and this is Lynn's first rodeo. Are the Chargers are a WC team because of Lynn or in spite of him? Yes, the Chargers are a complete team. I'll fade Lynn, however, in the postseason until he proves me wrong.

Yes, this is the first playoff game for Lamar Jackson. It's the first time in history a 21-year old QB has started a playoff game. He is, however, not asked to do the most. As long as he runs okay and doesn't turn the ball over, he'll keep his team in play the entire game. He won't be asked to win it by himself. It will be a different story with Mitch Trubisky this week and Pat Mahomes next week. I will fade those two QB for lack of playoff experience.

They also have a very good chance of losing straight up.

In my opinion, these are not games you bet on. Would you be shocked by any result here? The only thing I would consider would be a teaser.

I these games are all tight and tough to call.

The Chargers know what they are gonna get with Baltimore in that they already lost to them earlier in the year. I’d be surprised if the Chargers weren’t more ready to stop that run and come up with a game plan to find holes in the Baltimore defense. People can say what they want about Rivers but he can get it done and I’d take him any day over Jackson. If Baltimore can’t run the ball, then what? Is Jackson going to become this amazing passer? Maybe. Chargers have a good run game and they have some weapons on the outside. Henry playing will be interesting in that if he is somewhat productive, that takes pressure off the running game a bit. This game comes down to the front 7 of the Chargers imo. If they can’t get pressure on Jackson and stop that run game, it could be another long game. Another big issue in this game will be the field goal kickers. Baltimore has a top 2 guy and the Chargers....well....they struggle big time in that department.

FYI: In the 7 games since Flacco's injury Lamar Jackson tossed 3 picks and fumbled 12 times, somehow the Ravens recovered 8 of those fumbles. 2/3 recovery rate can't continue much longer. Last weeks fumble should've been a 90 yard TD return for the Browns but the Stripes called a Raven TD and blew the play dead. He has fumbled in every game. You can bank on at least 1 fumble.
I haven't pick a side yet but I am leaning Ravens as of now.

Maybe I am wrong...but if I released a line for this game at Chargers -1, I wouldn't expect to get the balanced action like I would at +2.5 and see where the market takes it. Not to mention teaser protection at Ravens +1 at home...getting teased to +7/+7.5 on a low over/under of 42.

Boom! You just said what I rather suspect could happen. LJ has a regrettable start to the game and Flacco comes in and takes his team back. Chargers are only focusing on a gameplan for LJ in my opinion, a QB switch could really mess with the Chargers defense. People are quick to discredit Flacco. He may not be a Brady, Brees, or Rodgers but he's still a vet with a ton of experience and a ring to show for it.

What blueprint is that?

What Baker Mayfield can do that Phillip Rivers can't do is move in the pocket and rollout. Mayfield passed for 376 yards and his biggest completions were 48,42,40,38, and 28 yards and 3 of those were for TDs but 3 of those passes were intercepted.

Rivers longest completion in their recent game versus the Ravens in LA was for 17 yards. Why do you think that is? Because the Baltimore D was putting extreme pressure on him.

Also, Baltimore ran for 296 yards against Cleveland and passed for 167 yards totaling 463 yards of offense and their TOP was 38:30...some blueprint.

Neither the Chargers (16 carries for 51 yards) nor the Browns (14 carries for 50) could run on that Baltimore D.

The front seven for Baltimore is lightning fast and they got to Mahomes and knocked him around all game and he is highly elusive, Rivers would be at home in Madame Tussaud's wax museum.

Baltimore beat the Chargers on the road and they will beat them again in their stadium IMO. Baltimore - is my pick.
