Same here. I had been watching football and not heard about. Pulled up Facebook on my phone and saw it jaw dropped and tears weld up. He enjoyed life and almost always was pranking teammates and laughing.

Fernandez's 76th and final game was Tuesday, when he pitched eight shutout innings, struck out 12 and beat the Washington Nationals 1-0.

"He told one of his teammates that the last game he pitched, against the Nationals, was the best game he ever pitched," Prado said, his voice breaking. "Now he's gone, and it's hard."

Seriously I'm a pretty cold hearted guy but this one really made me tear up. Guy wasn't even 30 and couldn't enjoy his adulthood not to mention his huge payday. Seriously rip Jose. You've cashed me a ton of unders. Rest easy sir

In other news. A 6 year old girl in Fullerton Ca arrived home from a birhday party and found her parents dead inside of her home. She dialed 911 all by herself. She is now in CPC.

When Fernandez escaped from Cuba, he was in a boat with multiple people and heard that someone had fallen into the sea. Fernandez jumped in and got the person in his arms, and was stunned to find out it was his mother, Maritz, according to the Miami HeraldFernandez prevented his mother from dying. “I dove to help a person thinking nothing of who that person was,” Fernandez told the Herald“Imagine when I realized it was my own mother. If that does not leave a mark on you for the rest of your life, I don’t know what will.” Chilling.

This really affected me and I merely had the pleasure of watching the guy pitch a few times. He was special.

RIP Jose Fernandez. The world is not the same without you.
