This kid was just hitting his stride after coming back from Tommy John surgery. Cuban defector, and headed for a huge payday.

Prayers are with his family.

I am amazed how Jose touched my heart with his performances the last 3-4 years.

I cannot remember an instance from recent memory when someone so great was taken away from us at such a young age.

So sad.

Man, turn to ESPN. They are getting the right people on the air.

Pedro Gomez (from Cuba)

Eduardo Perez on now (hitting coach for Miami for two years)

Very sad. Never would have thought a death of an athlete that I have no connection to would affect me but I actually have tears in my eyes.

And apparently he was supposed to start today but was bumped up to Monday. Wouldn't have been boating if his start wasn't moved.

I feel you weeble. Woke up, looked at my phone, and couldn't believe the NYTimes notice I had on my phone. I jumped out of bed so fast to turn on the TV. Wow! So sad. So tragic. Devasting for the Cuban community. RIP

ESPN now on to NFL pregame garbage. Don't want to miss that. Idiots.

MLB  just had Rick Waltz (Miami announcer) on, and he started talking about him taking 3 different English classes in high school (he got here after three defection attempts), and he just couldn't continue...............................started crying.............

MLB is where to be know. Dont know if they will get info first or not.

If booze was involved, I am going to be one angry, old, man.....

Somebody tell me it wasn't..........crap

This is like if we had lost Pedro Martinez when he was 24. Who knows what this kid would have accomplished.

I do not see how Miami ever gets over this.
