So far for me;
Raptors to win atlantic (1u, +120 @ bet365)
Continuity.  The same team that had one of the top 5 records in the NBA post Rudy Gay trade, that picked up a legitimate bench scorer (williams) and a proven defender (james johnson).  Brooklyn lost their heart and soul, new coach, and a roster made of paper mache players.   New York has a new coach, an entirely new system, and have actually regressed in terms of personnel (IMO).  I'm not sure how a roster with bargnani, jose calderon, and amare can expect to defend ANYONE.

Raptors to win atlantic/okc to win NWest (1u, +182 @ bets365)
See above for Raptors.  Oklahoma is my square play.  Portland to me is a good team, but far from a great team.  Their depth is suspect and I don't think Stotts will last more than a few months before they fire him.   I'm not confident in their defensive schemes and I think they played better than they should have last year.   Pinnacle has them at 49 wins and I suspect that is close to accurate, if not a few wins high.

Atlanta Hawks - OVER 41.5 wins (1u, +108 @ pinnaclesports)
How quickly we forget that the hawks were a top 3 team in the east last year until horford went down.  I think mike budenholzer is a top 5 coach in this league and the hawks should play to match that.  They are legitimate 1-10 and a milsap/horford frontcourt will decimate the east.   Barring an injury to horford they are my dark horse to win the east.

Please give opinions on my early plays and feel free to add your own.  The only stipulation is that you please provide some form of rationelle.
Good luck this season!

I'm all over the Hawks.

Hawks over 41.5 wins -105 5dimes
Hawks to win the Southeast +2000 sportsbook
Hawks to win the Eastern conference +4350 5dimes
Budenholzer to win Coach of the Year +25000

Here's a link to my thread where I discuss the Hawks

http://www.covers.com/postingforum/POST01/showmessage.aspx?spt=22&sub=101965743

I am also on the Wizards under 49.5 wins at -135 on 5dimes

The Wizards only won 44 last year while being nearly completely healthy all season.  Nene was the only key player to miss more than 10 games.  I believe Pierce is a pretty large downgrade from Ariza.  Pierce isn't a much worse player than Ariza but I think Washington needs Ariza's skillset more than they need Pierce's.  Beal and Webster are out to start the year.  Their SG spot is going to be very weak during that time. Their schedule is slightly tougher than last year regarding back2backs and 4 games in 5 night stretches.

My bad.  The Hawks to win the southeast line was +1000

As for your bets, I think the Raptors are the favorite to win the Atlantic but I am not confident enough to put money on them.  I think the Knicks will be a wreck and Boston shouldn't be a factor when it comes to the division title.  Brooklyn is the big question mark for me.  I'm not sure what to expect from them this season.

What book do you use where you can parlay division winners?  5dimes will only let me parlay season wins props.

I am going to parlay the Wizards under 49.5 with the Hawks over 41.5 at +207 instead of betting the Wizards out right.

Mavs O 50
3rd best coach in the league. Best owner of the league. Amazing starting 5. One of the best leaders in the league. Were great last year will be even better this year.
Pacers O 33
Yes they lost their star, but not to win 33 games? That's a freaking joke.
NYN U 41
They need 40 wins to make the playoffs, and they wont.

FlamingoBarnes - Even at +1000 for the hawks to win their division, that is a fantastic line.   The best I can get is +450.

I don't think I could pull the trigger on the wiz.  To me, they have a great combination between old and young.  I love that they have andre miller. Rasual butler can hold down the fort at the start, especially considering because nene will be playing.  They have pretty amazing depth actually...That win total seems pretty close, hopefully your digging into their schedule issues will be the deciding factor.
You can parlay division winners at bet365

Texan -  Mavs over 50 seems nice to me as well.  My only fear on that one is the depth of the west.  If dirk or monta goes down, they will have a tough slog for awhile, especially considering jameer nelson is their starting pg.   That being said, this may be a bet that I add.
The pacers lost lance stephenson as well, he was HUGE for them.  I can only see them hitting 33 if hibbert goes back to old form (50/50 chance of that).

Kevmode - I am a huge advocate of having multiple books.  I use predominantly pinnacle because the lines are fantastic, but my other books usually have better moneylines, future bets, and live bets.

Rasual Butler is terrible in my opinion and I don't expect him to be able to hold the SG spot down while Beal is out.

You are too much of a homer.  Lou Williams is a bum.  Brooklyn will be better this year IMO and beat Toronto when it counted last year.

But if Brooklyn falters, Toronto could win by default...

Ifyasmellalala - Warriors ALL IN!  I feel you on that one, they are looking amazing.

Thorpe - I try really hard to not be a homer, but I see what your saying.
I disagree on lou williams though.  He looked TERRIBLE last year, coming out of the knee surgery.  Like, not nba material bad.  However, this preseason he has the fire and speed that we seen when he was 6th man.  Honestly, he looks great.
I also agree that brooklyn is better on paper, their entire roster is just riddled with injury cases.  If they stay healthy, they take the atlantic.

most assists per game:

ty lawson +1600
ricky rubio +1600

ty lawson became much more of a pass first pg last year, and ricky rubio has a lot of athletes on his team who depend on backcuts and fastbreaks and such to score. both play for extremely uptempo teams

CT,

Thanks for keeping intellectual material on the boards at blankets. You could be flying solo doing this but yet you take the time to write-up your plays and analysis to help others. Your insight has always been much appreciated and you have the mindset of a winner regardless of the games' outcomes.

Positive things happen to positive thinking people. Stay confident and wise my friend.
