The West will win the Cup this year. I think the top 8 teams in the West are all better than ANY team in the East. I know the Bruins and Pens are good teams but no matter who comes out of the East they won't beat any of the top teams in the West.

Just my opinion. Open for discussion but I'm sure most will agree.

Only downside is the west is sooooo stacked that a lot of them beat eachother up on the way, like St. Louis and Los Angeles.

East can give an easier route, granted nothin is easy in the playoffs except LA cup run they had 2 years ago

I agree. Cannot wait till playoff hockey. I was telling my friend today that the first round in the west will be more exciting than the conference final in the east.

I am thinking the cup ends up in California,

All good points Hook. Tough to argue what your saying about the West teams. Also good points by everyone else. West will beat each other up heading to the finals...hopefully its a Hawks/Wings final and I can watch them in June in Chicago.

though there will be only 1 team to face the east, that being said, everything is possible in 7 games

I have to agree that the west is stronger 1 through 8 but they aren't a lock to win it all imo.

2010 Chi was a heavy fav against Philly and that series almost went the distance. When a lot of people were saying Chi would sweep or 5 games at the most.

2011 Van was a big fav against Bos and they could've almost been swept. Thomas played lights out and great goaltending wins games.

2013 Chi was a fav to win it all. Bos has a melt down in game 6 like Tor did in round one (against Bos)  or we are going to game 7.

Anybody that has played this game knows that you play the game on the ice not paper.

Just hope the West kicks the chit outta each other and every series goes 7 games with a few double OT's games

It's unlikely the Wings make it...but the East is such a toss up and wide open. Their is only one team in the East that is a true Stanley Cup contender and that's the Bruins. But as everyone knows, anything can happen.

If Wings make playoffs and get Datsyuk and Zetterberg back..anything is possible...we saw what they did to chicago last year.

generally speaking I agree
however imo bos the most complete team at this moment
and most teams would choose to play any other team with their season on the line
there are a lot of ? in the west
stl and ana both have a history of puking on their shoes come playoff time
and chi has yet to show their championship form
also we all know that the conferences have two different styles of play
with the east imo more focused on imposing their will on each other
the reg season records of the lower seeds are less important come playoff time thus making the talent gap less conference to conference

NO love for the Avalanche? could upset any of the "top three" in a series. Red Wings first  have to MAKE the playoffs.

however imo bos the most complete team at this moment

Bruins should be favored to win the East for the reason stated. good enough scoring combined with excellent D and G. Penguins D and (esp) G will probably fail them yet again. think they get upset 1st or 2nd round
