Is there any possible way this game goes Over 40.5?

SC offense is good, but LSU D will be fired up for this game and will lock down the offense

SC D might be the best in the country. Front 7 is deep and fast and crazy good.

LSU Offense is just terrible and has no vertical game.

Could easily see a 13-10 or 14-13 type game..

What do you guys think?

I think both defenses offset each other and we see a flurry of points early with a settled down second half.  I go to games followed them for many years crowd will be electric LSU will bring it Saturday will be a good time.

Unless the D and special teams score 3 TD's, you are spot on, Bud.

Environment key word look at Georgia at South Carolina environment!  SEC homefield at night in big games is vastly underrated trust me if you have not ever been you should and the blinders will come off.

I couldn't agree more.  LSU had a difficult time completing a simple forward pass last Saturday vs Florida.  They aren't going to magically transform into a scoring machine against the Gamecocks.  If this game were to go over 40, it would have to be South Carolina doing it almost exclusively.  Against LSU's defense, that isn't going to happen.  17-13 South Carolina.

Which is exactly why I feel it will stay under. SC won't score the 30+ again like they did at home against a much worse D in Georgia. LSU offense is just so inept right now, I don't see them able to score in the 20's. Double Digits right now is a stretch for them against a D as good as SC's.

Best of Luck to your Tigers Cajun

careful i know both teams will struggle to get past midfield, but The LSU defense will go apeshit in this game... there will be scoring.. LSU either get one or two Defensive scores or Latimmore bust 1 on a screen.. Also factor in some ints from both sides to get good field position prolly pick 6 somewhere... i agree u cant set a college total lower then they did, honestly a college total lower then 40 is absurd with all the varibles i metioned

When you have these low totals yes if the game plays out like how it should then it will go under.. IE teams going 3 and out a lot and a lot of running. But what happens is special teams and defensive plays allow for short fields and points happen in a hurry and open up the flood gates for a lot of points. For example : the Bears/Cowboys game on Monday Night..I believe 0 points scored in the first quarter had no business going over but two pick 6's and a few bombs and it sailed over.

I don't trust Zach Mettenberger to complete warm up passes to his own teammates.

Definitely agree with the under, also liking LSU TT under as well. Looking at 5D now and they don't have it listed. Imagine it would be in the 17-19 range...yeah that's not going to happen.

Lattimore will be shut down by LSU D, he will get maybe 65 yd. for the game! Shaw is the difference in this one. COCKS 20-13

i think the game plays out similar to LSU / Fla.  both teams MUST run the ball to slow down the pass rushers. they will do this whether the run is successful or not.   only way this goes over is if there are multiple defensive / special team's TDs IMO.

Completely agree that the ST and D with big plays could cause short fields. But at the same time LSU D is gonna be lights out imo stuffing the run and getting to the Shaw. We all know LSU struggles on the offensive side of the ball and I don't see it changing against this D. Even with short fields I think FG's will be a majority of the scoring

Another Bama LSU FG game from last year? It wouldn't surprise me

It's the spread that makes everyone think twice. If South Carolina was -1 I would actually feel better. But by LSU being -2.5 it makes everyone say hmm Vegas isnt stupid that line "is telling me something" It drives an experienced gambler crazy. Do you go with what you have seen ? That being South Carolina dominating Georgia and LSU being awful on offense. Our eyes tell us South Carolina 24-13  The line says LSU 21 South Carolina 17

SC's starting DT and 1 of their CB's are likely out with sprained ankles.  Could play a big factor especially the DT.  He's a run stuffer that typically requires a double on run plays.  FYI.

Good info paparaz, but like I said before, the front 7 is deep for SC. They just replace a future NFL guy with a future NFL guy up front this year. And Mettenberger is terrible. Not sure the Corner being out will really matter. Thanks for the info though

Starting DT Byron Jerideau is day to day, as is backup CB Akeem Auguste. Nothing serious.

Really like the under here as well.  SC one of best in the country on D and Tigers offense been really struggling.  Think LSU steps up big time off the loss and keeps it under the number...under 39.5 1u

well said cbowles 1111...DLEEDIEN21  i think SC had a punt return for a TD vs the bulldogs ..but with this total being set so low ,,,what i would worry about is,, i mean it;s only 10 points a period and say it;s 24-10 or 24-13 with a couple of minutes left ,,,one thing about the old ball coach is ,,he is not gonna sit on a lead or run the clock out he likes to go for the juggler and he will throw a 50 yarder to put it away and leave no doubt ...he used to do it back in the day with the gators all the time,, teams knew it was coming but they could not stop it...and then after the game spurrier would talk shit about it so be careful .....
