Football is a game of matchups. The loss of right starting OT lane Johnson is a tremendous loss for the Eagles. Johnson's replacement is a borderline practice squad guy who will be targeted. Wentz will have pressure in his face from his right side. The Eagles 2 best defensive players are DT Fletcher Cox/ S Malcolm Jenkins. Cox has an ankle issue which is death for a guy trying to collapse the pocket with brute force.S Malcolm Jenkins has not been the the player of previous seasons. I like the Eagles but they should not be favored in this game. If you can get to +3.5 Skins at a good price take it. |

previous winners had a greater selection. it was not uncommon to have a couple of people over 15 wins. 20 wins are now a long-shot.

Add in the fact that Seattle will be playing only it's 2nd game since 11/17 (week 12 bye) and the picture begins to get clearer. It is a mistake to take the niners and lay 3 points. I dislike Pete Carroll for his USC stunt but he is well aware of who his team is playing and they did not look past the Saints and have a letdown in a classic letdown scenario. In fact, they slapped the Saints silly and kept Brees from getting the ball to Graham who should have torn up the middle of the field. Vernon Davis is a load who does not show up and the first time he gets cracked upside the head on one of those "rubs" he is going to need a diaper change.

Seahawks always put up points but the 49ers have been held under 9 pts 3x this season and that is not good if you want to beat good teams. Seahawks D is very physical and catches teams napping at exactly the wrong time. Not going to play this game but would avoid backing the 49ers minus points.

I admire your optimism dj, but noone will ever hit 25 wins with the rules and game selection slanted against players. Look at the current Streak top guys. When I was first here it was not unusual to see 17-18 game streaks routinely. Now it's rarely over 15 games. I will keep plugging away myself but I am not under any illusions as to the 25 Streak. Don't get me wrong , I love Covers and did get my hat. The info and exchange of ideas here is first class and unparalleled on the web IMO. Thank you Covers for that! That is what I come to Covers for and for that I'm grateful.....the rest is just icing on the cake I guess.

In 10 plus years of Streak Surv. you have 4 people who have 21 wins or better. The most is 23 but the most startling thing you will notice is people's overall record for Streak. I didn't do a spread sheet or anything but 99% of people's records are within a few % points of 50%. That is insane. This is supposed to be people's best pick for the day and almost everyone with over 250 picks is 52% or worse. That says that people either suck really bad or your not getting optimal games to put your play on. I think there are some great cappers here and 50% just makes no sense. I know the majority of people can't cap games but that is a ridiculous number. I have a W/L record of 226-167 in Streak and I think that is abysmal considering the goal.

I think it's a moot issue in terms of the money. Nobody is going to win 25 in a row because the site pulls back games during the day. Covers never leaves a full card in any sport up all day. You have two seemingly insignificant factors that I think are huge in preventing long streaks. The first is the 7 day rule. The second is the 7 day rule combined with a very limited choice of games. Lets be honest about the limited card. Most of the games you have to pick from are not optimal. In fact, IMO most are "no wager" games let alone games you want to play with a double digit streak on the line. Covers says they have multiple "100K" giveaways lined up. However, they do a damn good job in making the highly unlikely become impossible. Leave a full card up every day godammit! Give people some kind of chance.

I noticed this as well. I think covers will tell you that your pick must play within 7 calander days of your last pick. I don't agree but I'm sure it's buried somewhere in the rules. I did not know this rule either. I looked back at your picks and noticed that you had a pending pick prior to the deadline. I thought that counted as a valid pick for keeping your streak alive. I would contact covers and see if you can get your streak reinstated. The odds against picking 25 str8 winners is unbelievable and covers keeps certain picks off the streak survivor menu which makes it even harder. You have been really impressive and I think you deserve to be back on the top of the list. BOL

The Winter Solstice was on 12/21 and the equinox is not until March but anyway, why are there so few games to pick? It's not like anybody is banging the door down getting close to the loot!

Congrats phillybenz on the 17......1/131,072. I was pulling for you. I also was getting a little concerned about the amount of time between picks 17 and 18...I'm sure you had your reasons...I'm not going to question a guy who hits 17 in a row. Start a new one, I think you demonstrated a patience that is not the forte of most gamblers. BOL

WHAT CAN I TRY FOR THE 2013 SEASON? I found what you said to be 100% correct! The easy answer is to learn to cap games yourself. There are two kinds of cappers today. The first uses stats/ trends/ astrology/ bio rhythms/ avg turd temp and a whole lot of other mostly meaningless stuff to achieve a 54% win rate and grind out a living. Not saying there is anything wrong with this. The second type is the old school matchups (eg. OL vs. DL) and so on. They also use some stat/trend stuff ( eg 4 games in 5 nights) but most of their decision making is done on information directly related to the teams playing and the circumstances surrounding that game. They make plays on fewer games, are risk adverse and tend to have a much higher win %. They also tend to keep to themselves and like to stay out of the spotlight not sharing their plays because most gamblers are a pain in the behind. A good starting point is to monitor folks in streak survivor who have an OVERALL decent win percentage. Look at the games they pick and pull up the matchup info to try and determine why they picked this game. Try and PM one and politely ask if they could share some of their info. Alot are nice guys and gals who don't mind talking to a person who is not overbearing and or simply wants winners and thats it. When in doubt, lay off...it will save you a few shekels in the long run. BOL. It is tough to become a good capper, but keep at it.

Tough night for a couple of promising streak survivor guys. A couple were knocked out by the Dallas/Sac 205.5 UNDER play. With 9 seconds left the score was 100-98 but the game went to OT and sailed OVER the # by a shitload.

There was a reason Drew Brees threw 5 int's last week and it was not because of a bad bounce or two. Brees was being chased all over the field. The loss of your starting LT will do that. I hate the Giants but they will beat the Saints. I could care less what computers and ATS nonsense says. Football is about matchups. Brees will be under duress the entire game just like he was in ATL. That was not an aberration last week. This is a very poor matchup for the Saints right now. Bet the Gmen at your own peril
