If you're in Vegas. Just go to one of the Station Casinos or Cantor operations and open an online account. Once they verify you are a resident of Nevada and you post up, you're good to go. If I was in Vegas I would do it. Its the easiest and safest method of locals in Vegas.

He should stick with local players that he knows and  can meet in person to settle. Cash only.

I always prefer the settle approach. You're probably not getting paid but just drop him a line and say something along the lines of "you might be having a tough time, but lets at least setup a plan to settle, even if its a few bucks a week. Just looking for a little cooperation".

Sorry you got stiffed. Be glad its only 300 and consider it a lesson. If you're really looking for a reliable local check out local bars, barber shops, poker games, or a bail bonds person. You should be able to find one pretty easily. The stiff rate for folks located local to you is significantly lower than random "joes" on the internet. The track records on books and players on covers is pretty bad, IMO.

Be careful with Paypal. If they ever find out you're sending or receiving money related to any form of gaming they will shut your account down and make access to funds very difficult. Just a heads up.

Every book is different. For me it all depends on the relationship. If you're a relatively new player I would've shut you off immediately until I got the $400. If you're someone that has been with me a while and I know has the means, I let the $400 ride into the next week. Good luck with your situation, I hope it works out for you.

Finding someone on covers is a crapshoot at best. if you haven't already done so, try local bars, barbershops, poker games, or a bondsmen. Good luck!

Less chance for questions. Deposit the check via ATM and it just goes into your account. Holds may still apply per your bank's terms of deposit, but again no questions from an inquiring teller.

Back when I was playing if something like this came up I got on the phone with my local and went thru the weekly figures between settle up points. Usually one of us was off and we settled things pretty quickly. Neither of us was trying to screw the other one but mistakes do happen. Even with online PPH stuff mistakes can still happen. Most guys keep historical weekly records in a spreadsheet. Its not uncommon for a typo. Again a quick comparison finds the mistake. Hope things work out for you.

Stay away from online casinos offered via PPH sites. Trust me when I say you can't win over the long haul. I've seen more guys go broke dealing with online casinos...

You absolutely must consider the context of the table and 1/2 tables typically feature 3-4 bets. That being said if a player reads they are behind, the proper play is to fold. Additionally if the odds don't favor making the call, the correct play is a fold unless you read something different. Even if 1 of the 2 players in front of him have an overpair, the queens are behind 4-1 and the pot isn't laying the proper odds. It isn't far off, so a call wouldn't be a bad play, but folding isn't either.

A partner helps, but make sure its someone you trust and has sufficient resources to be a good partner. Going it alone is also good, but everyone needs a break and if your book gets big enough you could end up with action all year around, so help is good.

Money can create all kinds of problems so chose wisely.

Suppose the flop doesn't come Q,9,?. The "nit" just fucked off $55. Over the long haul poker to be profitable you have to worry about what you don't lose more than what you win. $55 into a $165 pot when he thinks he is up against at least one pair bigger than his queens, IMO its a good fold.

You'll be hard pressed to find someone. The provider takes 25% of the rake and most agents won't have enough players and action to ever really get a consistent game going.

The cash games at the Rio are pretty good during the WSOP. The action is good and stacks are deep. Any other time, the Rio isn't the best place to play.
