The Yankees won't necessarily focus on a lefty. What they need is a winner. Hamels is also one of those protected guys that has to approve his trade and it is very questionable if he wants to go back east again. If the Angels or Dodgers beckon (or even Mariners) that would probably be more to his liking. Those left coast parks must look mighty appealing right now. Money won't stop those three either, but what they have to give up in personnel may be a road block.

I might be nuts but I don't think Hamels is going anywhere. High salary just to add another 3/4 to the roster. He has slipped enough that he is hard to move now. jmho

Go ahead homer; but it gets more ridiculous. Diaz gets the WIN, because he was the pitcher of record when Bregman and Springer homered, even though he also gets a "blown save" for giving up the the two runs that tied the game.

Ever heard of a “Pyrrhic Victory”? One in which the cost is so high as to make the victory meaningless? When geniuses think in terms of “winning” a nuclear conflict they usually think in terms of “we have twenty nukes for their five, huge advantage!”

Only the truly ignorant do not see that beyond the first exchange, the rest is meaningless. Every participant will be so busy picking up the shattered remnants of their own country they will have neither the resources or the desire to invade or defeat any other participant. Remaining nukes, now at an advantage of “only” nineteen to four, will become useless. NONE of the participants will desire a continuing exchange until supplies are exhausted. If EMP’s are part of the initial exchange the participants may not even be capable of further retaliation.

The situation is not the same as WWI, WW2, Korea, Vietnam or the gulf, when we could simply remain isolated, and although sacrificing military lives and national treasure, suffer no physical damage or massive death to our own population. If you are one of those that has in mind that the U.S.A. will simply blow away the enemy and suffer no consequences, God have pity on you.

FG Tigers +124 (Zimmermann/Wood)

Obviously Rays backers are playing the momentum here, regardless of who is taking the ball. Zimmermann has been so badly maligned since joining the Tigers that folks are willing to back anyone versus him and the Tigers, even a team of relievers. What folks fail to notice is that Zimmermann has turned it around and posted 5 quality starts in his last 6 outings (3 straight) and overall is 8-3 head-to-head versus his opposite number.

No sir, it was the A’s on July 4 and I did post it as a push. No difference in my accounting from the 3 through yesterday morning, but thanx for trying to give me a break.

Sac, one of the beautiful things about maturity, peace and wisdom is the acceptance of what you cannot change. Let it go. Let it be. Covers has a policy that allows anyone to say anything and acknowledgement is what they are after. You are just accommodating them.

Could be. Like you say when Duffy is right he is awesome and has given 5 quality starts in his last 7 attempts. 2 straight. If he gets through the second untouched he settles into a groove.

That is not correct. I have always conceded HFA exists, but my contention was, and still is, that it is overvalued in the minds of bettors. What should be 5 or 10 cents is built into the line at 30 to 40 cents if the public perceives of "the better team, at home" and the public pays it. HFA to the Rangers tonight is about 5 to 7 cents, but I won't ignore it as a factor.

Williams .406 was 1941, before even I was born, 77 years ago.

Sac; the suicide squeeze made it impossible for even the pitcher to get the guy at home, unless it was bunted hard, and right back at him. With the runner coming full speed on the pitch if the ball got down in fair territory there was no defense for it. The pop-up and foul ball were all that could stop it.
