College Basketball / Pitt???? / View Post
What people don't realize is that Pitt's backcourt is just as good, yet not as hyped. The key? Pitt is going to OWN the boards. Easy win for Pitt.

I don't even talk sports casual with my buddies, co-workers, people at the bar, etc. Most of the time they have no idea what they're talking about or I don't want to tip my hand that I obviously gamble and/or spend too much time caring about Tuesday night MAC conference games in October.

At first it's cool to talk about casually when you get your feet wet with $50 three teamers through Tony at the bar. Not so much when you're betting nickels and dimes on halftime lines during a weekday. Nothing positive about discussing it at that point, regardless if the results are positive or negative.

Not paying close attention to it, but it sure looked like it. I don't think he has to actually be announced, just ruled the winner. He got the three count, so not sure if it matters. If there was a textbook example of initial ruling vs final result, that would appear to be it.

All wagers made on selections having the "initial ruling" notation are graded immediately when any announcement of a winner is made at ringside.  No claims, voids, or concessions will be accepted or honored regardless of the circumstances at hand.  Official or unofficial wrestling website results ARE NOT used for grading purposes.

They have a guy watching it live and he grades it, I know this because that's what they told me specifically when I dealt with all of that Wrestlemania drama. So when Big show gets the three count, you have your result.

Also, they aren't ever going to change another WWE ruling again, under any circumstances from what I've been told and their specific rules posted now.

The 1-2-3. Initial call by the ring announcer was the Big Show. Big Show initial ruling, Sheamus "final result."

Big show wins as HUGE dog, at least the "initial" ruling.

Ryback is definitely not ready to be champion and Cena isn't back at full health. I don't even think they'd have a storyline for Cena if he won the title. Feud with Ryback? No. That's face vs. face.

Punk retains IMO.

Punk vs Rock carries itself, the title isn't relevant. Everyone knows the Rock can't be a champion based purely on logistics. Why attach the empty title match tag to something that it doesn't need the support?

All I'm hearing is that how Ryback isn't ready and how Punk will retain the title. It's the most predictable story line arc ever. The other logic I'm hearing is that Ryback can look strong against both Punk and Cena to get "established." I feel we're way past that point and that logic is laughable.

If you really think about it, the match structure itself is the key here. It's an easy out for Punk to lose and an easy way to justify Ryback getting a completion to his push. Even if it's only a brief run prior to Punk regaining the title at some point. There have been dozens of short runs and this  would make sense.

The fact that Punk has had the title almost a year to the day and they keep reminding you about it makes me really think he drops the title. Looking at it simply from an old fashioned wrestling point of view, it's the only reason a triple threat match even makes much sense. Also, they've never really nailed these WWE lines before, many huge dogs have hit. Could obviously see the same thing happening here.

If you just wanted action, toss $20 bucks on every underdog. That would have been a profitable strategy on every event they've had lines for I believe.

Thanks, but the Marquez fight cost me way too much. Overall it was great, but I really dropped the ball on an important wager. He had his moments, was going to stop Viloria, punched himself out - got schooled and caught. Great fight though, but too much on a limb to ruin a great weekend.

Exactly - and in probably every aspect too.

He has a shot -  three judges. Twink has a great point, the odds of Marquez winning ANY "swing rounds" are slim and none. Also, I can't picture Marquez winning any clearer than he did last fight and it still wasn't enough.

He'll always be Robin to Pacman...

pinnacle will be grading my pac/jmm as a no action as well if the fight ends in a draw.

"Technical" draws receive refunds, but a full-length draw would not have. Any straight wager on either guy got refunded too. From what I understand, that's one of the major differences between "UK" style books and US style books is the grading of draws. Basically, you get fucked on the draw at European books.

Not really "in love" with much this weekend at all. However, I do feel some of the totals are too chalk heavy and the wrong fighter is favored in the flyweight unification bout.

Bolonti/Bellew over 8.5, +155, 4 units to win 6.2.
Bolonti is SLOW. He isn't going to win rounds, probably does have a puncher's chance though. He looks the part of a big, durable guy in there though. Bellew gets into a habit of "slapping" arm punches at times and doesn't really turn up the heat as soon as he should against over matched opponents. I don't think he'll have to change that as he can score at will and box to a very comfortable, cautions win.

Mack/Froch under 8.5, -240, 12 units to win 5.
I don't think Mack is "in it to win it" at this point in his career. His chin is becoming increasingly fragile, and you really have to question his motivation. If Froch hurts him, he'll look for a soft place to land. Mack isn't a "blood and guts" type of fighter - he won't make much of a comeback.

Broner ITD, -160, 16 units to win 10.
This fight won't be competitive, whether or not Broner can actually stop him. DeMarco isn't busy enough to win rounds against Broner. He isn't very aggressive either. He'll probably be walked down and stopped in the second half of this fight. There are fighters that can give Broner a run for his money at or around lightweight, but DeMarco isn't one of them.

Johnathon Banks, +335, 4 units to win 13.4
I don't like Seth Mitchell. Nice story? Sure. However, he is very limited technically and Witherspoon clearly showed he might not have a granite chin. That being said, if Banks hurts him he can certainly finish him. Also, the longer this fight goes the better it is for Banks and he is likely to outbox Mitchell for large portions of this fight.

Is it possible he gets steamed purely from a physical standpoint? Absolutely, as that is what the line suggests. However, I think you'll get an honest effort from Banks tonight.

Hernan Marquez +120, 20 units to win 24. (favorite play tonight)
The wrong guy is favored here, all the upside with the "dog." Marquez is training with Robert Garcia in Oxnard now. He's younger, stronger and has fought the better competition. It's simple - one fighter is on the way up, the other is on the way down.
