Warriors defense to take center stage, and today's NBA odds and analysis

Feb 10, 2019 |

There are five games in NBA action today, culminating in showdown between the Golden State Warriors and Miami Heat in the late game. We're here to bring you the must-read notes from around the Association to help you make the best wagers.

Mavs solid at home

The Blazers travel to Dallas as 4-point favorites and winners of four of their last five games. Historically, the Mavericks have done well at home versus the Blazers winning 14 of the last 19 at home and covering the spread in 10 of the last 13.

The Mavericks have done a good job defending opposing power forwards all season allowing only 21.5 points on 46.1 percent shooting. Last time these two teams met, the Blazers' Al-Farouq Aminu was held to 3 of 8 shooting and only 9 rebounds. Look for similar numbers today and back Under his points, rebounds, assists total of 16.5.

Offenses are clicking

The Lakers are coming off a huge road win versus Boston where the Lakers made 22 shots from beyond the arc and won outright as 9-point underdogs. Today the Lakers are 7.5-point underdogs again as they travel to Philadelphia to take on a 76ers team who are 22-6 at home.

Los Angeles have surrendered an average of 126.3 points per game over their last three, and with Philadelphia averaging 118.6 at home, they should be able to light up the scoreboard. Take the 76ers team total Over 121.

Winning when they are expected to

The Suns and Kings have split their last 10 games in the head-to-head, however this season the Kings have gone 18-11 at home while posting a 13-1 record as favorites.

With the game total set at 231 points, there should be lots of points to go around. The Kings' De'Aaron Fox is in a favorable spot today versus a Suns team surrendering 24.5 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 8.4 assists to opposing point guards. Last time these two teams met Fox shot 7 of 12, including 3 of 4 from 3-point range. Expect similar numbers today and take Over his points, rebounds, assists total of 24.5.

Don’t fade this cellar-dwelling team

The Hawks are 1.5-point home favorites versus the Magic with both teams playing on the tail end of back-to-back games. Historically, Atlanta has played well at home versus Orlando winning 15 of the most recent 19 games and have averaged 47 percent shooting from the floor over their most recent 10 contests.

Look for the Hawks to take care of business at home and back them on the money line, as the Magic will once again be without Mohamed Bamba, and might have Aaron Gordon sitting today as well.

Poised to get blown out

The Warriors are 14-point home favorites as they host the Heat. Although the Heat have struggled outright winning only one of their last seven games versus Golden State, they have covered the spread in 10 of the most recent 14 games in the head-to-head.

With Miami averaging only 100.7 points over their most recent three, and shooting only 44.5 percent from the field, take their team total Under 105 today.
