Who saw this coming?

Everton are alone atop the English Premier League table through the first four weeks of the 2020-21 regular season, reeling off four consecutive victories while boasting an impressive plus-7 margin.

That has sent their outright odds skyrocketing, from an opening of +25,000 all the way to +2,000 (the fifth-best odds of any EPL team). But they'll face a stiff test this weekend against the defending champions as part of a packed Matchweek 5, in which all 20 teams will see action.

Here are our top Premier League betting plays for Matchweek 5:

Premier League Predictions for Matchday 5

Everton vs Liverpool (Saturday, 7:30 a.m. ET)

We couldn't have predicted that this would be the marquee matchup of Matchweek 5 prior to the start of the season, but here we are. Everton have been sensational at both ends of the pitch, averaging three goals per game while surrendering just 1.25. But they aren't the story in this one, as their opponents come in with plenty of motivation after getting shellacked 7-2 at Aston Villa.

That was Liverpool's first defeat following three straight wins to open the season, and drove their goal differential all the way back to even for the season. They'll be amped up for the latest edition of the Merseyside derby, especially after these teams played a pair of competitive matchups last season, in which Liverpool earned a win and a draw and only one goal was scored.

PREDICTION: Liverpool (-125)

Manchester City vs Arsenal (Saturday, 12:30 p.m. ET)

Arsenal are rolling heading into a pivotal Saturday encounter with struggling Man City, having won four of their past five matches, including three of four in league play to start the season. They also come in with some confidence after a 2-0 FA Cup victory over Man City in July halted a seven-game losing streak in the series (during which Man City enjoyed a 20-2 goal advantage).

That summer victory, combined with Man City's uninspiring 1-1-1 start, might tempt bettors to chance the visitors here. But the Gunners will be without star defender Kieran Tierney for this one, and given how dominant Man City have been at Etihad Stadium (2+ goals in 12 straight home games), we're much more confident in the home side rebounding in a major way Saturday.

PREDICTION: Manchester City -1 (+100)

Tottenham vs West Ham (Sunday, 11:30 a.m. ET)

Both Spurs and West Ham are off to strong starts, though Sunday's visitors certainly deserve a better fate having gone 2-2-0 despite a plus-four goal differential. Tottenham have earned seven of 12 points through four matches and have a plus-seven goal margin in that span, tied with Everton for the second-best differential in the league (Aston Villa lead at plus-nine).

All signs point to a high-scoring affair at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this weekend. Tottenham are seeing more than four total goals scored on average over their first four games, while West Ham have exceeded the 2.5-goal threshold in 10 of their 11 matches this season across all competitions. We're confident that these trends will continue Sunday.

PREDICTION: Tottenham-West Ham Over 2.5 (-175)
