Driving in Las Vegas could be the most fun you'll have on your next visit

Riding around in exotic cars is one of the most popular driving experiences in Las Vegas.

One of the tricks of planning a guy’s trip or bachelor party in Las Vegas is to find an afternoon event that appeals to everyone. It's somewhat surprising, but not everyone enjoys 48-72 hours of only drinking and gambling. Finding something in common with a group of guys isn't always easy. However, spending a few hours outdoor driving around won't offend anyone and can be a fun time. From the mellow to the explosive there’s a type of driving around for everyone.

Exotic Cars

Riding around in exotic cars is one of the most popular driving experiences in Las Vegas. There’s a good reason for this. You can rent an Aston Martin, Porsche, Ferrari and simply drive around the city. After cruising the Vegas Strip I recommend heading out to the desert for an adrenaline rush or just to take in nature you won’t see in most parts of the world.

There are also a few different tracks where you can take an exotic car out for a lap or two. If you’re not comfortable driving at high speeds you can sit shotgun and have one of the instructors zoom you around the track.

Off Roading

Take a quick car ride away from the touristy parts of Las Vegas and you can rent a dune buggy or ATV and just drive around the desert. There are both free driving experiences and tours available if you and the crew just want to relax and enjoy nature. Just a heads up, off-roading can be canceled in the summer because of extreme heat or wind. This happened to me for a bachelor party and we were forced to drink and gamble all day instead of zooming around the desert. Tough day but we managed.

NASCAR and Indy Rides

The Richard Petty Driving Experience at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway now includes the Mario Andretti Racing Experience. You can either drive or ride as a passenger in a NASCAR with the Richard Petty Experience.

Your hands are always on the wheel when you choose to drive the Indy car. Just because these experiences are available around the country it doesn't mean that this isn't a fun way to spend an afternoon in Las Vegas. Too bad you can’t bet on your own NASCAR and Indy rides.

Motorcycles

A great way to explore Las Vegas is to enjoy the open road and fresh air riding a motorcycle around town. It isn’t rare to see groups of bikers riding through the Red Rock Canyon area. Some will stop about halfway through the public route to take a break to enjoy the scenic overlook.

Riding through Valley of Fire is another option if you’ve been to Red Rock Canyon and are looking for a new desert scene. This ride will take a little longer so you get to enjoy that fresh desert air even longer. The state parks are $10 each.

Go Karts

During the summer you may not want to deal with the Vegas heat but still want to put the pedal to the metal. Indoor go-kart racing is a fun way to spend a couple of hours. Pole Position Racing is about a 5-minute car ride from the Vegas Strip on the opposite side of I-15 from the casinos.

The indoor race track is air-conditioned and a fun way to compete with your friends without being too serious. Listen, the need for air-conditioned fun is no joke during the summer so don’t poo-poo this idea.

Scooting

People scooting around Red Rock Canyon is sometimes the bane of my existence. See, these little scooter crews sometimes leave the scenery to check out the neighborhood and just get in my way. Seriously though, the people riding a two or three-wheel scooter into and around the Red Rock Canyon area always look like they’re having a fun time. This is a nice relaxing way to see what nature has to offer.

If you’re looking for a deal, you might want to check out Scoot City Tours. The three-wheel scooters can fit two people so you can each only pay half the fee.
