Lions vs Blue Bombers predictions
Blue Bombers -11.5 (-110)
The Blue Bombers might not have covered last week against the Elks but they still won by double-digits for the sixth game in a row. The Bombers have an average scoring margin of plus-18.6 points per game over that span which includes a Week 9 visit to BC Place where they beat the Lions 30-9.
Not only were the Lions dominated in that contest they lost 39-10 against Calgary last week to extend their losing streak to three games. BC now allows a league-worst 386.9 yards per game and while quarterback Michael Reilly looked like the best passer in the league earlier in the year he has struggled in his last two contests.
As good as Reilly is, Winnipeg's elite defense has proven that it can shut down the league's best quarterbacks and BC's mediocre blocking and running game won't do him any favors.
On the other side of the ball, the Bombers have the CFL's most balanced offense. Quarterback Zach Collaros leads the league in passing yards (2,565) and yards per pass attempt (9.1) while Winnipeg ranks second in the league with 113.4 rushing yards per game.
With the Bombers going 7-0 SU and 6-1 ATS in their last seven games at home, back them on the spread.
Under 42 (-110)
Reilly is one of the top quarterbacks in the league but the Bombers have made a habit out of making strong passers like him, Cody Fajardo, Jeremiah Masoli, and Trevor Harris look like scrubs. When they faced off against Reilly three weeks ago they limited him to 177 passing yards while holding the Lions to just 13 first downs, 248 total yards, and nine points.
Winnipeg's pass rush is led by ends Jackson Jeffcoat and Willie Jefferson while two-time Most Outstanding Defensive Player Adam Bighill anchors the unit at linebacker. That dominant defense is allowing the fewest yards (319.1) and points per game (12.6) and has helped the Bombers cash the Under in six straight games at home.
Meanwhile, the Lions are 7-1 to the Under in their last eight games on the road while going 8-1 to the Under in their previous nine contests as an underdog. Follow the trends and take the Under.
