Being comfortable is the number one thing in life to even have a chance at making money in the gambling arena. If you are comfortable you won't be stressed. I have seen two points of view on whether you can or can not make a living on any form of gambling. The answer to the question ultimately does come down to the individual and their ability to think and play under constant control and accept that $10-$20 wagers on anything vs $100-$200 that your expectations of trial winnings is totally different from the other. When you are wagering $20 on a throw of dice you will not end up winning $5000 on the day. Its all about playing within yourself and realizing the amounts you are wagering vs possible real winnings. There are tons of ways to make money while gambling whether its sports, horses, or casinos but having a plan and discipline are the key. I recently tried something that I will share with everyone. I really don't care who believes what or to what extent regarding this statement: I am fortunate to live in an area of the country where I have access to 5 casinos within a 45 mile radius or there abouts covering 2 states. I decided to try and make $80 a day while playing 50/50 stuff at the roulette wheel and I was armed with $1000 when I sat down at the table. I will not discuss what strategy I use only to say that it is probably thing reverse of what most people do and how they think. The results were-i went for 30 days this past October and spread out going to a different casino each day to help break the monotony that went with such a grinding style of play. Yrs it was boring and tedious but as in everything I do I put my heart and soul into it. So during the 30 days I did manage to walk away every day with between $70-$90 dollars with no exceptions. The quickest it ever happened to me was it happened in 25 minutes and the longest it took me was 4 1/2 hours and I must say that was indeed a long and tedious day. My point Is that it can be done but it takes time and a conscious effort without losing site of that goal and expectations. I had to go there with $1000 in my pocket and was willing to risk between $10-$25 per spin. My biggest wager was $55. It could have been very easy to risk more or set my sights on bigger fish with all that cash in my pocket but managed to stay the course. I must admit that I really found it boring and tedious and I'm glad I at least went to the different cassinos to break things up a bit. In all made $2445 minus $453 for gas and tolls for a profit of $1992 or $66 a day. I realize this was only a one month sample and playing roulette at all that 50/50 stuff wasn't glamourous and I wasn't drawing a crowd but I made money doing it my way. What I found interesting was listening how everyone talks around the table with statements of hitting that big one at 17-1 or I came here to spend this $200 have fun and leave but my favorite statement that I heard from everyone was "I'm due or that number is due"......ya like numbers have a mind of their own. Again just sharing an experience and wondering why anyone would leave when the dream is right in your own backyard where friends, family, and familiarity breed comfort and elimate stress. It was only $66 a day but each day I walked out I felt a great accomplishment and at the end of the month it was nice little sum. Just sharing a small story and my thoughts. That is pretty much it winning is very boring process of grinding it out. I would give my friends my two strongest plays that I straight bet 550 each which won. They would add one more team for a 3 teamer go 2-1 and lose. Winning aint really super difficult like any thing in life but it can be boring. |

Just wanna add that it is now so much info now for sports gamblers that if you study do your homework, be PATIENT and pick your spots you can make a fortune. Internet, cable we are bombarded with info. My biggest down fall and I'm not a generate is being patient at times.
One thing I believe in that you have to vary your bets at times you can bet single units, use 1 star and 2 star bets like some games 100 bucks and bets bets 200 bucks. That is conservative enough and do a tally of your monthly results. I gambled over the years and sometimes when you get the itch go out run, watch a movie get away if you feel a little compulsive. |

My monthly nut to crack is about 1000 I think it is pretty damned hard to make 100 a day gambling. I am pretty disciplined and keep track of every poker session and sports bet made. I am only averaging about 650 a month in gambling profit for the year so my bankroll is going down a little. The highest it was at the height of my unemployment collecting was about 60 k and now it is about 40 k I am kind of lazy and dont want to look for a job so I will probably play my bankroll down to about 30k then look for work I think you can make it out here gambling but you need a decent bankroll and u need to be focused and disciplined. I do it for small stakes and the swings are still big thats why I cant even avg 50 dollars a day gambling I keep my goals the same try to make 50 dollars a day and even that is very difficult. I have never been good at sports gambling that is why I prefer to play more poker. If anyone has any questions about moving to Vegas and living the so called dream fire away and I will give u my opinion Reef Good post to give people some true accounts on living in Vegas. Sometimes the truth hurts but at least everyone gets another perspective. I believe in the Vegas dream but once you get in the arena and get punched strategy changes. My view is you have to use progressive bets at times and treat some games with more value than others. Blackjack players use a counting system and when the deck is hot they go big. Sports to me is no different, no professional blackjack player would bet the same amount on every hand, they would not make any money. |

I don't go around asking everyone who I heard or thought committed a crime if they did. Unsavory people are not my best friends but living in Vegas for years or any town you see fvcked up things. I don't condone bad behavior but I don't go around questioning Tony Soprano if he committed a crime. |

Just be smart, predators are all over in this town men and women. If you walk around anywhere in the country with a sign on your forehead saying I just won 5 grand you will get attention even in a old folks home. |

Living in Vegas you do get caught up somewhat in the lifestyle un less you have been castrated LOL. When big money is made hot women come along with the territory. One tip I would suggest is try to keep a low profile, especially now in the rough economy in Vegas, I know guys that look for people who cash big to take em down. Another thing is know what you are good and sometimes the best bet is the one not made.

I lived in Vegas for 15 years worked construction during the boom. I would bet from 55 to 5500 depending on bankroll. I once turned 20 bucks into 17,000 on baseball and basketball. I would make 50,000 on good football season, on bad seasons lose 12,000. I was discipline at times and at times not. I have seen the best and worst gamblers. The dream can be had but I would handicap for hours and have good systems. That being said sports betting is the hard thing to do for a living, Billy Walters is the best but he made some of his money in the Vegas real estate boom. If a few big bets didn't go his way he would be on this forum like the rest of us. I wouldn't tell you not to follow your dream but all newbies come in bright eyed, until reality sets in.
