First in the Atlantic east versus last in the Atlantic east. Coming off a loss to the Bobcats and we're favored?
Anthony, second game back and the Knicks getting +60% of the wagers? I'll take the Raps and hope that I'm on the right side of Vegas!

Just want to make sure I'm understanding this correctly:
Washington @ Toronto Toronto's -3.1 subtract Washington's -4.8 = +1.7 Add Toronto's home court advantage of +3.5 Line = 5.2 therefore, Raptors should be -5 fav's. I'm hoping that's correct, but was wondering how to factor in the intangibles and how you weight/value them. For instance, Toronto is coming off of two blowout losses, they're missing Bargnani and possible look ahead to Bosh and company in Miami on Sunday? Thanks! BTW - Good luck with the Nuggets bet!

Hi Nropp, Often check in on your thread for your insight, and thought I might give it a crack with seeing what you thought about any of the games I've listed: Tenn Tech v. EKY Davidson v. Chat Val v. WIGB Colorado v. Southern California Florida v. Ol' Miss If you've already made comments about these games earlier in the thread, my apologies. Just direct me to the post #. Thanks for your thoughts! |

Just wondering if FSU had qualified as a play yesterday as I think I recall seeing over 60% backing Maryland as a public underdog, and of course, FSU covered the -12 spread. |

Public seems to be on the Maryland as the underdog. I can't recall the system exactly, but it was to bet against a public underdog at 70%? (though I think you adjusted it down to 60%?). Anyway, keeping an eye on this and would like to know if this is indeed a play today. |

Would love OT to help out with the over for the game!

The pace looks quick to me because there are so many bricks hitting the rim, with long rebounds spilling out! This is painful to watch, but I have the over at 181.5 as part of a 3-game parlay, so I'm hoping they reach mid 80s at least so I can at least think about a second half bet.

More camera shots of Odom's wifey! Hard to believe she's better looking than this game.

Hey ACC, any insight on the 2nd half? I'm seeing Maryland +1 and under 69.5.

one dog and one fave for today. what do you think? Opinions welcome please.
in NHL Betting I like them. Though, me liking them I don't will help or hurt in any way. But those two games were the ones that caught my eye. Vancouver on the road, as a dog against St. Louis? I think the casual bettor would probably clap their hands and lick their lips thinking easy money. I'd even dare say it looks like a trap game since I would suspect most of the public to take the Nucks and plus money. Winnipeg are solid at home and the line to me looks like it's hoping that the public picks the divisional leaders in the Sharks. So good luck! Hope they hit. |

Going to be at the Raptor game tonight. Train69 also seems like the only other poster on the over in the game. My concern is the Raptors options off the bench to put up points, and the lack of scoring from DeRozan, and both Butler and Jimmy Johnson. I can see everyone on the forum on the under, but wondered how you see the over hitting if the Raps lean heavily on Bargs and Jose scoring (or not scoring). Does the thought of the b2b2b play into your pick for the over, or are you fading the forum. Personally, I think Philly covers the +4. Good luck and enjoy the game! |

Lakers were missing some of their bench yesterday. Kobe played like he was 22 again. Unfortunately when he wakes up today, he won't feel like it! The Suns hung around last night and when their shooting went cold, the Lakers were able to pull away thanks to Kobe's 48 point effort and to a small extent the inside presence of Gasol and Bynum. I mean, late in the fourth, when you're starting to get tired, it's hard to get position to grab boards against 7-footers, when you're rimming and air-balling shots. Wish the Suns had pushed the ball more than they did, earlier in the game. I guess as good as they are, Hill and Nash aren't the young bucks they used to be. Anyway, right now, do I think Jazz > Suns? Don't you? I hope Luke Walton logs a half-game's worth of minutes again and continues to contribute the whopping 14 points combined from the bench. The tipping point in this game I think will be the Lakers missing Odom. In their four games last season he averaged 14.25 points off the bench. That average is more than the output from Blake, World Peace and Wally from last night's game. Anyway, last season the Lakers were 6-4-1 against the spread on Wednesday nights. Nothing spectacular. The Lakers were -1 favs for the first game @ Utah early in the season (which the lost), and -8 favs for the second game @ Utah (which they covered). Does Kobe pop another 40 plus points? Against the Jazz, if he's done it 6-times as noted, why not? But, I think the short spread here might be Vegas banking on a deceiving Lakers score from last night and IMO missing Odom off the bench will hurt the Lakers chances of winning this game. Just my opinion. Good luck Goinggone - Barkley was good on SNL in the TNT bit. |

Philly, Jazz and Pacers, I think are solid sides. With the Raptors, as much as I think you're right, it's really hard to believe in their ability to score over the total. I understand and agree with your reasoning. Who wants to take a charge and play lights out defense when you're on the last leg of a back-to-back-to-back? The fear I have with the over, having watched the Raptors play is that they're getting no production from DeRozan, Butler and Jimmy Johnson. That means Bargs and Jose will have to continue to pick up the slack. Off the bench, the Raptors don't look very good when Carter replaces Jose, and with the Brazilian Blur streaking hot-and-cold offensively, as bad as the Kings are defensively, I just don't know if the Raptors can score enough to cover the total. Nevertheless, with everyone jumping on the under in this game, who knows - maybe the under is just too easy to be the play? Just some thoughts as I've been to every Raptor home game this season and wanted to share my observations. Good luck! |

Any comments or insights on the 76ers @ the Knicks? Philly being a 4-point underdog on the road. With the way the Knicks and Philly have opened their respective seasons is the spread a disrespect to what the 76ers have done so far, or are we supposed to think that the star-studded Knicks line-up will cover the spread easily? Since this thread focuses on traps, I thought this would be a good game to see how Vegas is trying to screw with our minds. |

Did Coach Casey take a page out of Triano's playbook? How about a time out anytime when your opponents are on a 30-8 run? Seems to me that the Raptors have packed it in tonight. With a three game in three nights coming up, wouldn't be surprised to see the starters not play much, though they haven't played much from the look of things.

Friends think I'm crazy for sharing half a season on my seats at the ol' ACC. I'm not drinking any hometown Kool-aid cause I'd be shocked if they contend, let alone make the playoffs as the 8th seed. But, there are some encouraging signs from the games I've watched which I hope in 2-3 years will give the home town fans real hope that we can at least compete in the playoffs. The Raptors have a renewed commitment to defense - last year, you'd see Jay Triano standing by the side line, arms crossed looking like a dear in headlights. This year, Coach Casey is barking and swinging his arms, instructing players on where to be, but not only that, you have the assistants all up off the bench when the Raptors are on defense, giving specific players instructions and guidance on what their defensive duties are. Is it a co-incidence that the Raptors are leading the league in opponent field-goal percentage? The Big-Cat effect. Jamaal Magloire has been a wonderful addition to the team. The old guy gets down and dirty boxing out and grabbing boards, limiting the other team's second chance attempts but watching him help and rotate on defense is a pleasure to watch. Sure he air-balled his first free throw attempt at the home-opener, but I think the hussle and professionalism he's shown is having a positive effect on the Raptors. For tonight's game you have the Nets in town. The Nets sport the 30th ranked FG% on offense, against as noted the Raptors 1st ranked FG% on defense. On the flip side, the Nets have the 26th ranked FG% defense versus a surprisingly 6th ranked FG% of the Raptors. The Nets are banged up and I was on the wrong side of a Raptor bet against the Cavs, but not likely tonight. Are the Raptors playing beyond expectations? I think so, but I think the Raptors are good enough to win this game. Covering the -6 spread, I'm humming and hawing, but leaning towards the Raptors. One last thing I wanted to note. I'm more than surprised at the fact that the Raptors are .500 right now, going for an above .500 record against the Nets. Laughably, it's possible that the Raptors could be 5-1 had they not blown a 3rd quarter lead against the Mavericks on the road, and a 4th quarter lead against the Magic, again on the road. Though if you watched those games, I think you could make the argument the refs weren't intent on letting the Raptors win but the Raptors showed grit and determination when last year, they would have typically fallen behind early in the first half, never to make a game of it. The Raptors know that their schedule gets tougher with their back-to-back-to-back coming up starting on Monday, so I hope the Raptors don't let this opportunity to pick up a win pass them by. Though I'm humming-and-hawing with the full -6 spread on the Raptors, I'm going to use Professional1's fade of the Nets in the first quarter.

If Houston dictates the pace and plays fast tempo, I can't see Gasol and Bynum keeping up with the track meet. Kobe as exceptional as he is, did seem to be in a lot of discomfort with that wrist. Did you see the camera shot where the commentator referenced how even he could tell one hand was bigger than the other?
Good luck with the bet, but also wanted to ask if you were going to fade the Nets tonight 1Q. Thanks

The Fins lose to their rivals in the Swedes, and the Canadians lose to their rivals the Russians. But everyone always wants to beat Canada. I think the Fins come out strong and keep this one close. I'll take my chances on the Fins to lose 4-2 to the Canadians, or 3-1.
I lean on the under. If the Fins can't cover the spread, it probably means that they couldn't pot a goal or two.
