Mandalay Bay is a terrific sports book for it's spacious setting, lots of seating, and plenty of TVs. Same for Caesars.

The Bellagio comes through time and again by reviews as the best buffet in Vegas. Unfortunately, most travelers know that, and the lines are unbearable. MGM Grand, Mirage, and Mandalay Bay offer up some good buffet, short of Bellagio.

Ooh, Mr Slater, the 20 something wannabe that thinks he knows Vegas better than me a Southern Cal guy, who's been there 35 times. Reality check: you call IP, a shithole, just like the Indonesia, your home? IP and Indonesia are BOTH shitholes!

And I've lived in San Diego for three years counting and go to Las Vegas a lot and Mandalay Bay is a better value for your money than Bellagio and has a way better Sports Book. When they opened in 1997, the ad campaign for Mandalay Bay was "90% of Bellagio for 50% of the price." And it's still true. And all MGM properties give you a slip for a free drink in the sports book, and more slips if you wager more.

Good Luck "Uncle Gimp." IP isn't the best place but the Strip has something to offer everyone's budget. I'm going over Memorial Day Weekend and will be staying at Mandalay Bay, highly recommended. I would also suggest that for what you pay for IP you could upgrade for only a few bucks more and stay at the more respectable Luxor.

I haven't stayed at Paris but it's a top ten hotel on the Strip. I'd liken it to the Mirage.

The Strat is a dump cut off from the rest of the Strip. Stay at an MGM Resorts property. I don't know what your budget is like, but if you can stay at the Strat, you can afford the Luxor, with better accomodations and proximity to MGM, Excalibur, NY NY, the Tropicana, and where I like to stay as of late, Mandalay Bay, which ranks among the best resorts in Las Vegas.

Yes, I know you SHOULD stop em but if those who say this would answer one question: was it NECESSARY to be throwing the ball that far ahead? The answer is "NO;" just keep it on the ground, chew up the clock and be done with it. If you're just running the ball between the tackles and they still can't stop you, that's their tough luck. But throwing the ball four touchdowns ahead is just overkill. What's the point? Was BB worried about a possible comeback? |

@Lou: sounds like a local microbrew. Where is it brewed? Canada? Pacific Northwest? I like all kinds but like the black lagers, especially the new Guiness Black Lager. Shiner Beer out of Texas makes a good black lager too. |

The Rangers' payroll is 'only' $50 million, near the bottom of MLB payrolls. Almost all of their talent is homegrown except Cliff Lee. If the Rangers can re-sign Cliff Lee they still won't be the best team money can buy, that honor remains with the Yankees. The Rangers and Giants were good stories because they beat the big monied teams in the LCS to get to the WS: the Yankees and Phillies. |

The Giants were a good team! They got hot at the end of the year, which is a very big help. Add a couple of heavy hitters and they are easily a 100+ win team.

I live in SoCal and drove out for there for three straight weekends: championship weekend (Aria), 1st Round MM, (Mirage), and the Sweet 16, (MGM). A great time! For so many schools around the country, Spring Break falls on these weekends, and the Strip often has the feel of a giant keg party. The downside is the bumper crop of kids who get all lathered and can't handle their liquor. NOT fun. |

I live in San Diego and drive. But for searching for hotels the highest recommendation goes to hotelscombined.com. I always book my hotels through here. It's the most compresensive metasearch travel engine on the Web, ie, it searches scores of OTHER travel sites. You then book your hotel through the site that hotelscombined found, and yes, you can bundle flights! November is slow in Vegas and you can find lots of reasonably priced hotels. I plan on going (driving) and staying at the MGM for a mere $148 a night the first weekend of November. |

The casinos have a $200,000 ceiling on how much you can win on a parlay card. I know an 8 teamer parlay with all eight games at odds of -110 pay 175 to 1. The only time of year it makes sense to play a parlay of bigger than two or three teams is in September during college football and load up on the college football mismatches as the big powers pound the cupcakes. I won't even play a two teamer parlay in the NFL anymore, too much parity. |
