The Niners will cover the spread in this one. They are better offensively this year than they were on the road last year in Detroit and won 25-19. At home they will add at least one point to that margin and cover the -6.5. Love this pick for week 2.

My play on this early game is the under 7.5 -115. The Phillies have won each of Lee's last three starts, thanks to a 1.33 ERA over that time frame. He has allowed just three runs total during this time. He has been effective in daytime starts this season with a 3.14 ERA in nine starts. He should benefit here from facing Miami a lineup that averages just 3.8 rpg vs. lefties. In addition, the Phillies are a NL best 13-4 since Aug 23rd. Only problem here is that Rollins and the rest of the top of the Phillies' order has really struggled when facing Johnson. Ryan Howard, Chase Utley and Carlos Ruiz are a combined 0 for 12 vs. Johnson this year with six strikeouts. It's interesting to note that before scoring nine runs last night, Philadelphia wasn't even averaging four runs per game over their previous seven contests. They are 35-24 Under during the second half of the season. Miami is 27-16 Under this season on the road when the O/U line falls between 7 and 8.5. I am parlaying the under pick with Angels -122 and D'Backs -125. |

Like Cin + because they have not lost to Bal by more than 8 points sine 11/08 (6 games). I think that these are two teams going in different directions. Still pretty even, but would rather be a Cincy fan than a Bal fan. Lean towards the over in this one because there have been a ton of points scored in Week 1. both contests last year go over the total as well. The pass happy NFL is all about the big play and lots of points. Lean towards Oak in the nightcap. SD is without a lot of weapons on offense (Matthews out and Jackson in TB). A healthy McFadden and home crowd get them over the hump in this one. Playing the under in a teaser myself because of advice from handicapper (Bryan Power) on this website.

Utah -0.5 and under 56.5 - 6 point teaser action. Rivalry game will keep it close and I believe both defenses make enough plays to stop it from going over the total.
