AZ ML. UCLA is banged up on D, and a young QB in Rosen who has not played well last two. Throw in prime time and on the road...think this one goes to the cats.

Man, this has been some good hockey. I hope the rest of you are right so this thing goes another game. Can't wait to get off of work to go home and watch this game.

With the huge talent disparity between these two teams, on paper it seems improbable the Ducks lose this game. This will be a spirited game that Calgary will have to catch a couple of breaks to pull off. With that said, it was almost better for Calgary that the earlier goal didn't count and give the Ducks time to push before the end of the third because they sat back for the last 20 minutes of that game. I don't think the Ducks make the same mistake. It was a great win for Calgary and series saver, but I feel the effects of that loss favor the losing Ducks more than the winning Flames. I don't see the Ducks giving 5 or 6 power plays, I don't see a ton of open ice, but I do see the Ducks giving more hits than shots on goal this game (based on Fleischmann being added tonight), and dumping and working the cycle to their advantage and size. No way the zebras give out 10 power plays tonight and that favors Anaheim. Ducks and under. |

Kings just got off a big radio tour in LA, patting themselves on the scrotum for getting back to playing "Kings" hockey and such... Hate these f*ucks. But when laying real money, you can't deny they are "money" this time of year. |

No Beleskey, no Vatanen, called up Etem and Manson...Doh. Ducks Power Play has been awful...even worse with Vatanen out. Bolts will play with impunity. It will take a goaltender performance to steal this under. I don't see a Ducks win or an under... Of course, every time I bash the Ducks, they win. |

"It is common for NHL champions to miss the playoffs the following year as it happens in the MLB and sometimes the NFL (more the NFC last decade)? Don't want to look this up in depth but if someone knows, do let me know."
Mister Post, I thought I had heard something about that being uncommon in the NHL and found the last time it happened was in 06-07. Here's an article that outlines the Kings problems of late...
When the Kings have "ho-hummed" it through the regular season in the past, they were still at the top of the league in GA and puck possession time. This article spells out the GA and possession drop in numbers pretty well.
I like TyMo's position about not letting these two points get away and am with MisterPost on the low number and want to take the Kings, but...5-11-6 on the road and 12 OT losses. That's a ton of points they haven't grabbed.

I laughed at the total, hadn't seen one that low in forever. But the shadows at the Ravine will be brutal with Kershaw and Wainright. St. Louis has to get to Kershaw early to beat him, which they can do...but the conditions will make it tough. I won't lay real cash at -200 on anyone, even Kershaw, but think the under 5.5 might be the play.
I see this as a 1-1 game in the 8th with a ND by both starters.

Does anyone have a stat for how teams do the day after clinching a division? Just curious. I get there are a lot of variables involved, but clinching a week/two early?
Please don't pull a couple of numbers out of your arse...I don't care enough to validate or bet on this game. |

Doyers are offensively challenged these days...especially against lefties.
Unless you think Haren's going to hold the Metropolitans to two or less, than the +125 looks good. But I got no faith in LA to put any runs up tonight. ...Honestly, if the hated ones were a serious threat, then I might feel differently. But, the Doyers can coast into the post season to get waxed by Washington, St. Louis, Milwaukee...whoever, because they really are not incentivized to win. Not a team that instills a ton of confidence with my money. I mean, hell, you needed a chance two run tater from a spot player in the bottom of the eighth to bail Kershaw (who threw a gem, and is, in the words of many, my spirit animal). I'm a Doyer fan, but this is a streaky team...and they're not streaking. No bet for me, but only because I can't bet against the blue. |

RL on Philly is -125. I was thinking the exact same thing before I hit the forum that Hudson hasn't been good enough to be getting -200. And Moho's right, Hated ones have been anemic at the plate.
I get it BB that Kendrick might be your "get the bats back" pitcher, but I wouldn't lay -200. Take a chance on the Phillies...+175.

Game of adjustments, Dallas made them Monday, Ducks make them tonight. Hungry Vatanen to replace Robidais and Selanne is a healthy scratch to add some grit to the lineup.

Well moho, we are on the same page today. Ducks have scored at least three in 9 of last 10 games, and would've covered 5.5 by themselves in 3 of them.
Remember Ducks fans, when the Ducks score 5, it's 5 free wings at Hooters! |
