Looks to me by reading the Saturday's DRF that most top trainers do not like this new system at all. Also check out the latest Indian Charlie's newsletter. Obviously most horsemen are totally against this system. I myself am against most of it. The only part I agree with are putting less stress on sprint races. The Kentucky board that put this in place are truly egotistical and only want points from a few major races. They are playing God with this and are probably gonna get away with it as well.

Well not too bad. The race finished in a head bob and it ran 12 9. The exacta paid 33 dollars and change. Was expecting the 11 horse to be in there too but oh well. If you followed you should of made a little change. If not, maybe next time.

Not telling you to bet alot but the payoff should be nice in this race.
GL to you. Whats the purse and do you own the 9. |

I do like a race tomorrow at Ruidoso Downs. It's a full field of 12 and I like a 12-1 shot with a couple more for tris and exactas. Race 10 I like the 11 horse, W F Diamond Halo. She always draws an inside post and gets horrible trips. She drew outside tomorrow in a weak field. My horse is the 9 and she is doing great and I also like the 12 horse as well. Bet yourself an exacta and tri box using these numbers, 9-11-12 and I think you will cash a nice ticket. Also put a little across on the 11, I think she could win at great odds. GOOD LUCK

i did ... still confused ... I didnt know lazy ass was running what number horse is that .....? |

Anybody looking for a live longshot, I will be using Sabercat. Trainer loves his draw even if he gets a wide trip. This horse needs to keep his motion and not get stopped because he does not have the ability to restart very well. He is a closer and should get somewhat of a clear trip. He is around 40 to 1 and I think he can run in the trifecta and superfecta. Still a UR fan even though his draw was not very good. GOOD LUCK |

I also think, IF your balls are big enough, you can leave out Bode only because he will be pressed the whole race. I know he is a bad ass but I think it's a good move.

He has the experience over this track and is training great. He also has the running style for the Derby. Getting a good trip from this post is my only concern on him. I also know from inside info that Daddy Nose Best is peaking as well and he won't be the first Derby or Oaks winner coming from Sunland Park. I think you can wheel UR first and second in all your exotics and hopefully find the long shot that runs in the money for a good payout.
I agree that Union Rags is a trap bet and a wheel killer....

Another reason I love Union Rags is that he is proven at CD. Not every horse takes to that track. I know Hansel beat him in the BC but UR had a bad trip and was closing well on him despite the trip and now add 330 yards to this race. Like I said before, if there is speed to the outside of Bodemeister it will compromise his chances giving UR a great chance of winning IMO. I kind of think Bode is the best horse, a monster, but the circumstances of the Derby might not to his advantage. Sticking with UR if the draw suits me.

That's all I'm saying.
Care to elaborate about the speed on top of speed? Hansen, Bode and .... I mean I wouldn't say 23 and change and 46 and change is blazing speed for bode and hansen. There are a lot of years where there are horses coming into the derby who run 22, 45 type fractions. I have actually been trying to find who the speed is this year. |

Heavy Chalk ? Not in this field. Maybe 4-5 to 1. The lowest. |

You are exactly right about the post position draw, it's ultra important. I will stick to my pick Union Rags. It was not the jockeys fault in the last race, it was only a matter of a very slow pace. It's hard to run down front runners in stakes competition when they crawl on the front end. And you know there will be a blistering pace in the big race. You can't knock Bodemeister at all, he is awesome. If they both draw well I will hammer UR and bet big exactas. I personally love Union Rags and his jockey is pretty damn good too.

I will stick with Union Rags myself. Bodemeister showed what a monster he is today but there is speed on top of speed for this years Derby. I will take my chances with an awesome horse coming from off the pace. The post position draw will also be crutial as well. Bodemeister does scare the hell out of me because he is a big time bad ass but his performance in the AD should increase the price on UR. I will wait for the draw but if UR draws well he is my horse.

Oh and Smith is money on any major race. Bode will be favorite, I think. |

I figured he would come back to NM where everything around here is too laxed. He would'nt have to shave off any more weight plus his brother is here working as an agent after his riding career has ended. Know them both very well. They are fun loving guys that almost everybody likes, but both have had their problems with drugs and chicks. I also know his cousin Fernando, he rode out here back when I was riding. He had some skills too.

I will take Bodemeister in the AD. He took all the pressure last time out from an inside post. Most horses would of folded when they turned for home but he fought his ass off. I think an outside post and a little more experience under his belt, he should cruise. IMO Good Luck

Unbelievable!! Most tracks like to run on any kind of holiday. I can't believe the OTBs were closed as well. I really did'nt pay attention to NY racing today but everyone else was running as usual. Another gambling story or bad beat story, that really sucks.

Of course getting somewhat of a clean trip is huge in the derby and an inside post is a killer but everything points to UR IMO. It is a diffucult race because the field is so large but closers usually wins the big race. I'm not gonna try and talk you out of betting any horse or betting UR because anything can happen in this race, like Mine That Bird winning, but there is no other horse suited better for this race than UR.
