Damn. Strike that. Pats in the first half.

But I can also see the Pats losing and the silly questions about whether or not the game has passed him by start up with even more fervor...

The Saints Squashed the Pats last night
Belichick tried to implement the same defensive gameplan he used in SB XXV and XXXVI. It backfired. The Saints ran all over the Pats D. Coupled with Belichick's recent 4th and 2 debacle, a firestorm of criticism is launched against the once great coach. You read it here first.

Not the particular D but Belichick's thinking. He's used that gameplan in two huge games, and frankly it almost backfired in SB XXV. If he tries it again, he may game plan the Pats right out of the game. I remember one of the players on the giants D saying once they implemented B's plan, it was never going to change no matter what happened in the game. Leaning toward the Siants.

How 'bout Saints -1/2 in the first half? Saints get off to a rip roaring start with the crowd into it, then the crowd settles down and the Pats settle down and make the game close.
God help me I just don't know how to bet this game!

Going into Super Bowl XXXVI the St. Louis Rams averaged 31 pts/gm (reg season) and Belichick's Pats held them to 17 pts. He used the same defensive game plan that he used in Super Bowl XXV, I think, in which the DBs sit back and punish the receivers after the catch. It's a game plan that makes it hard to defend the run, but it demoralizes the receivers in the long run - no yards after catch. I wonder if he's tempted to dust off that old defensive game plan. I think it would be a mistake against the Saints because if they recognize that's what the Pats are trying to do, they'll run run run. Anyway, food for thought.
