Key, welcome back and as usual you make some very good points for the Giants tonight and I also Ihink they will really need to win this series with Ariz to compete for the division title in this weak division so I would play the fg, too. So far they haven't made any big changes until they see how they do. The linemaker made the total 7 1/2 and it has been bet under so they expect a low scoring game despite Kennedy pitching very poorlly his last 2 starts, he h as pitched very well against the Giants as you noted except his last start. One guy in good form and the other ? With both offences suspect, I think you are on the right side tonight! |

Another poster said Oswalt gave up 9 hits with 7 bloopers and 0 walks and 11SO in his minor league start. O nly a sap would think this is a good bet to fade him in his first start back and the over..

I am very sorry if anyone lost on the Giants last night because of my advice.Kickham give up two hrs tat really hurt, but a great catch in the 9th by Kemp or this might have been different outcomef (The reasons I don't post much is I don't want to cause anyone to lose or to jinx myself.).
Now with this loss, the game tonight means there is a good chance they could get swept. However, both these former Cy Young pitchers Kershaw and Lincecum, have both been shakey, especially Kershaw lately, so why not take +170 if the dog has a 50-50 chance of winning tonight? These two guys have been in some very close games against each other with Kershaw winning them all when he was on his game which is not the case right now!
I have not been doing too hot lately, so maybe you should fade me but this is a HUGE game for the Giants on this long road trip. They really need to right the ship soon or their season could be lost. GL whichever you decide

The Dodgers aren't as good as the Giants and even though they aren't hitting right now they had beat the Dodgers 5 in a row before last night. I think he just got nervous in his firs ML start. The priceand spot is right tonight |

Tonight a guy goes for SF that is getting a 2nd chance to make the team. His first start he started well striking out the 1st three batters. he got tagged in the 3rd inning, but he had a great start in the minors last out, going 7 2/3 and giving up1 run AT Reno! I look for him to improve tonight. His name? That's for me to know, you to find out |

So for all of you haters, a little piece of advice, cap your own games and shut up. If your going to tail, pick one capper and ride em to the end, have discipline, do not deviate from the picks, bet the prescribed units within your means. And again, never forget rule number 66. He is the best around here and you are giving good advice. |

I WAS MISTAKEN, THE GAME IS IN PITTSBURG AND NROPP LIKES ROBERT MORRIS. I'm not not going against him! |

Early season lines are based in some major part on how good the teams were LAST YEAR, not how good they were this year. So I look for teams that look to be improved, especially teams that were REALLY BAD last year but this year they might just be "below average". You will often find teams like that that are dogs in almost every game and they keep covering but losing outright, and as a result, they still have a crappy record and the line doesn't adjust until at least December or so. Teams that put up awful records like 3-28 or 5-26 usually improve the next year -- they still lose but they are often somethinmg like 10-20 or 12-18. But early in the year, they are getting HUGE lines based on last year's horrendous performance. I'll be back in a week or so with a list of teams that I think might fit that mold this year. Early in the season I look for teams with experienced point guards, and try to avoid, or fade, teams breaking in new point guards with no experience, even if the team might have a lot of talent. You won't see me betting on freshmen laden teams, even when they have the kind of talent Kentucky is bringing in, in November/December. Another thing I never do is bet on the big confference favorite hosting the small conference team in an opening game (i.e. Wofford at Georgia Tech or Sacramento State at UCLA). I have just seen too many times that the big conference team comes out flat in their first game and doesn't cover, occasionally even losing outright. In a game like that I am either going to find something I like in the small school and take the points, or more likely pass altogether. And sort of as a corollary to that -- I have found that a lot of teams don't show their "true colors" in the opening game. So when it gets to be late November and teams have 2 or 3 games under their belts, I don't put much weight on what they did in their opening game. I have seen too many teams come out poor in the opening game and tempt me to fade them in subsequent early games, but then they get it together and play well, If a team looks like crap in their first game but looks strong in the next couple games, I will throw out the results of the first game entirely when trying to gauge their talent level. It gets a lot tougher once conference season starts. The one thing I really try to avoid in converence season is conference road favorites. There are so many teams that I don't TRY to handicap every game. I pick and choose, I pay attention to scores and if I see a team that might appear to be doing better or worse than expected, then I will pay close attention to them and look very closely at their games.
